Awaken To The Here And Now: Completing Your Search For Enlightenment

I loved this book. I've always questioned conventional religion and their motives. By reading this book I feel better about following what I feel inside. You don't need any gurus or years of instruction to become enlightened. All you need is inside you.

I loved the part about finding out who you really are. If you understand the discussion on quantum physics you realize that your physical body is not you. If you start stripping away the parts of your body, all thats left is all you are. You are perfect. You are God or the infinite wisdom.

Read this book with an open mind and begin it as if you have no previous beliefs and it will become very clear how to become enlightened. As you replace your old beliefs with the new ones life becomes much simpler and less stressful. You will begin to see we live in an illusion anyway and be able to just sit back and enjoy the ride.

This book contains direct pointers to the the enlightened state, and will help many seekers experience that state. The book, however, is fairly dry and isn't inspiring as some would wish, though inspiration isn't necessary for those who are earnestly searching.

I read the book and wrote this review, however, for another reason; something unsettling that I would like to share. It is as follows:

When I watch YouTube videos of spiritual talks given by enlightened teachers, I observe that there are two kinds: The first kind possesses a certain vitality in his speech, his facial expression, his eyes-he is full of Life, full of love and compassion, and that energy radiates; the other kind does not.

Watch U.G. Krishnamurti, then watch Eckhart Tolle or Adyashanti. My point is, renouncing attachment to the organic world is only the first step; the one who has realized his timeless self (i.e. enlightened) still needs to return to the organic world and face his sufferings; he must use the light of his consciousness to dissolve all that were previously unconscious; only then is he completely free.

This second step is potentially much more arduous than the first, and is perhaps a life-time practice. Of course, if you remove yourself from modern society, away from sources of pain, you don't have to face them; but then how free are you?

Some of the above enlightened teachers are not truly free, they are still confined by some unconscious suffering (you can see on their faces); and so the vitality, the life energy, love and compassion is not yet able to shine through.

I have spent the last five years consumed with seeking enlightnement. I have read many books and worked with a variety of teachers. Unfortunately, much of the information I have received seems to be in code. Awakent to the Here and Now, however, is different! Kevin Duffy does a phenomenal job of presenting the information in a way that makes recoginition of the facts he outlines easy. I have never felt so close to making a quantum leap in consciousness. Finally, a direct path to enlightenment! Kevin, I can't thank you enough for the gift that is Awaken to the Here and Now!! We are all ONE. Blessings, Nick.

This no nonsence book will lead you directly to your enlightenment. Kevin does not ask you to believe anything, just follow his guidance and you can directly attain your own non-conceptional recognition of your enlightenment. This is the only book you will every need to read about enlightenment. All the other approaches I have ever attempted required me to accept new beliefs and continually work towards a non-attainable ellusvie goal. If you follow the quidance in this book you can complete your search for enlightenment.

Kevin has put together a concise guide without preaching or telling you how to do it "his way." The mark of a good teacher is to present the information in a way it can be accepted and incorporated so that it can be used. Enlightenment can be attained regardless of your religious or spiritual background. This is definitely the most to-the-point and easy to understand guide I have ever read. Kevin shows that you do not have to climb a mountain when you are already on top. You just have to know where to look to enjoy - and accept, not except - the view!

For over 35 years I've searched for answers. I've studied most major religions. Something was always missing. I have read countless books searching for God, understanding, enlightenment, you name it. Kevin Duffy's book was like a shock to my system in that it helped me realize my search is over!

I hate to leave an unfavorable review.. but most of the book is ramblings about personal experiences that are not beneficial, inspirational, or entertaining to read. If you want to read a book with those qualities then read a beautiful book called "Living with the Himalayan Masters" by Swami Rama. In that book you will also learn what enlightenment REALLY is.

Kevin Duffy, the author of "Awaken to the Here & Now" thinks that by merely grasping and accepting the concept of non-duality this means your enlightenment. I think the author has been searching for a long time, which is great, but he still has a long ways to go before he is ready to guide others to a destination where he has never been.

Have you ever had that AHA moment? We all at one point in our lives have searched for it. Many have it through feeling a notion of God as a being. Others know it as a feeling. Some describe it as a connectedness. Kevin in so simple terms teaches you that it's all connected. He does this with facts via physics and doesn't ask you to distort your belief system he just puts out a logical universal argument that transcends any religion or spiritual belief. Who doesn't want to "Just Know"? Much money is spent on the search for Joy, Knowing, and peace in our life. It is hard to accept that "IT" is within you. With all the money, time and energy you can put forth on "pursuing" enlightenment, I guess you have to decide if "truly" half the fun is getting there......The phrase "Your Ego's writing checks you can't cash" has an all new meaning after digesting this must read.

Kevin gives you all the tools to reach enlightenment and strip out the Ego versus whats real. Many thanks to you Kevin for showing anyone can be on the Path without all the expense.

Kevin's theory is simple...... if you have to be convinced of the truth it must not be. You will know when you Awaken to the Here and Now.
