This is a book like no other, period. The term spirituality, as used so casually by many is brought into SHARP, FAST focus by the Author as a REAL "place" we can all live to enjoy our lives in ways we will not and cannot regret. Religion is not the point expressed....it is something much more beautiful, honest, and simple.

The style of writing and the incorporation of truly brilliant and inspiring artwork helps immensely to simplify the intangible concepts of happiness, love, fear, and more so one can actually DO something with them rather than wonder how these emotions or states of being may relate to them.

I have found the book to be a gift that I am compelled to share with others. As I meet people throughout my days that seem to be in a place where their joy and passion appears to be crying out for more, I send them this book, Awaken Your Soul. I have bought a lot of people this book and wish I could find a way to send it without them knowing who sent it. I don't want the credit, only to know their lives may be touched.

You can read this book in a few hours or you can read it over weeks. You can read it over and over, or similar to the Zohar, you can simply open it to any point and find what message is there for you at that moment for some reaon.

Quite sincerely, I cannot think of a better gift you could give yourself first, and once you have taken care of that critical person (yourself) I suspect you will smile when you buy it for others, and I suspect you will. In this way a pyramid of giving passion, and a guide to the journey of life is spread as wide as you choose to contribute.

A coffee table book? Sure....try and leave it on your coffee table and leave the people you love a lot in the room for long enough they will open it and read just the first couple of pages. Now THAT would be a gift (from you to them). They may regret you came back in the room so quick, but most certainly will say something that will initiate a memorable, intimate conversation that may take your friendship/relationhsip to a new and more beautiful level.

I recommend you do not hesitate. Buy the book...it is a gift we all deserve, and I cannot buy it for everyone, but if I knew you and loved you I would....

An incredibly insightful and easy read. I really appreciated the author's ability to relate his life in such a "plain truth" way that it helped me see my life without the shame and judgements that I do normally. The author is not "telling you what to do" like most self-help books. He is just sharing his experience and giving you alot to think about. A great gift to those you really care about and who care about making a change in their life.

This is a very tricky book ... it tricks you into enjoying it for its beauty while sharing the author's sometimes brutally frank personal journey and making solid suggestions on how to be more fully human.

You could argue that it is "free form" and the kind of book you could open on any page. You could also argue that the author has been very thoughtful in its organization as a life guide -- especially for anyone going through any kind of life transition.

The author explores the role of "masks" and how to remove them. He goes on to suggest that we can reclaim our soul, really feel our emotions and "grow through change, curiosity and courage."

His promise is that if we do the work outlined in the preceding paragraph, we can experience increased faith, love and passion.

This is my year-end gift to friends and family this year and an anytime gift to anyone in my world who would enjoy a fresh perspective on life ... especially for creating a more meaningful, satisfying and passionate life.

A true thought provoker. John helps us understand ourselves through his personal journey of enlightenment. A visually impressive, emotion provoking, easy read.

you don't really read this book, you feel it. john's personal quest looking for himself is compelling and joyous and scary. anyone who has chosen that path for themselves will relate wholeheartedly and anyone beginning to search for themselves will find inspiartion and encouragement in john's ruthlessly honest journey. the book is visually beautiful and designed to stimulate all your senses at once. it's a powerhouse ride.

I looked at this book more for curiosity and was about to pass on it but my wife said I should go ahead and put it in the basket. Perhaps I was drawn to it, just having a milestone in my life. So much of what John shares with his journey hit home with me. Particularly how many years I simply walked around wearing a "mask" and putting so much effort into keeping up the image. It was powerful to hear someone else's journey. Although it scares me to take that mask off and look at what is behind it, seeing John and his journey was an inspiration. I would highly recommend the book

I've read a number of books about spirituality or self-help before, but found Awaken Your Soul different. It doesn't lecture at or judge me; rather, it provides a blueprint for how I see myself and what I do (or don't do). The integrated artwork and text offers an easy read and enabled me to truly absorb the content. In fact, I keep it next to my bed for daily reference. I highly tecommend it to anyone who is on a path of self-discovery.

I have known John Drury since 1982 and his book shares his most intimate side of how one gets so involved with the challenges of winning that the loss of family is far more tragic. I commend John for taking those steps to understand himself and move in a positive direction with Deb and his family. He is giving back to everyone who still has a chance to unite with their loved ones. I look forward to reading his next chapter of his life.

This book is filled with unbelievable photography, insight into the author's life, and a challenge to your own way of looking at things. Read it cover-to-cover day one...and read it again day two.

It got me to relook at some of my beliefs and rethink I do and how it affects others.

This is a must read...don't miss. When is book two coming out?
