In the past few years, incredible things have happened in the Soviet Union. Jews have been permitted to emigrate more easily thatn ever before. Tens of thousands have left for Israel, the United States, and elsewhere. God is delivering his people as He did in ancient Egypt.
Not as a direct result, but certainly related to this, the Soviet Union itself has gone through massive change. This has meant unprecedented opportunity to proclaim the Good News in this atheistic land. Soviet Jews, both in Russia and who have left that land, are thirsty for living water and spiritual food.
The Lederer Foundation, from our inception in the days of Hitler, has published literature to help Jewish people meet the Messiah. When Yiddish-speaking Jews were leaving Europe to escape Hitler, much of what we published was in Yiddish, including the classic "Yiddish New Testament". Now there is a need for Russion material, as well.
Awakening was first published in Russian, specifically to help Russion-speaking Jews understand about God, Jewishness, and Yeshua (Jesus) the Messiah. Through it, many are awakening from their deep sleep brought by atheism to discover what it means to be a Jew and to find salvation through the Savior himself.
We received so may requests for an English translation of this book, we decided to publish an English version. Other than some minor changes, "Awakening" is the same as the Russian edition, compiled, edited, and translated from other Lederer publications by Dr. Anna Portnov.
One final note: the reader may notice that the book is oriented toward Russian Jews; however, "Awakening" will be appreciated by any English-speaking people, Jews or non-Jews. For in it, Truth is revealed.
