Continuing from Book One of the BirthRight Trilogy-The Arrival. This is Book Two in the Trilogy.
Be careful what you wish for...
A seemingly innocuous love spell caused Catherine, Sian, Laura, and Kassandra to cross worlds in search of their soul mates. But more than love drew them to Gar'nyse. Truths are revealed and lives forever altered after an attack at the castle. An age old feud between two archaic families threatens to tear the world they've arrived in apart. As the ultimate weapons in such a war the four girls are the only hope for peace.
But one of them lies unconscious from the attack, and the destiny that awaits her when she wakes will change everything.

As a fan of the first book, I was quite thrilled to discover the second was available. Being familiar with the author's style, this book was easier to read and follow than the first. While distracting in the first book, the shift in perspective was welcoming in the second. It was nice to really see things from the other girls' points of view. The new characters were interesting and they helped to progress the story rather nicely. I especially loved that the main characters' relationships became more intimate. As with any romance story, there are predicable elements, but some things took me completely by surprise. And as with the first book - perhaps even more so, the end left me desperately wanting more. I can't wait for the third installment, but I will be very sad to finish it.

I enjoyed the first book (The Arrival) in the trilogy so much that I couldn't wait to read The Awakening. I was not disappointed. The POV changes provide great insight to the various personalities in the book. The author takes her time to tell the story which is nice. There are times that you can actually visualize the scene as it is happening and feel very much a part of the story line.
The book has a few love scenes that are well played out. You are introduced to a new character that I absolutely fell in love with. Be prepared to laugh and cry aloud!
It is going to be hard NOT wishing for time to fly by so that I can read the last installation due out in December of 2012!

Read the first in the series and really enjoyed it so I immediately bought and read the second and was not dissapointed. I like the characters, not only the human characters but the griffons, dragons etc and really enjoy the story line The surprise the girls and guys got was unexpected, even though you had the feeling that there was something..... I can't wait for the 3rd - hope this writer has more of the same coming - fast.

Good
It was a good book but very inappropriate at times. Cut those out and it would have gotten a much better rating. You can feel the emotion pouring out of this book. Read more

More About the Author
Nicole MacDonald is a thirty something year old Kiwi who loves to read and moonlights as a novelist. From a young age she fantasized about being the heroine in the books and/or movies she watched and credits the series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' for really inspiring her. Writing only occurred to her a few years ago after reading an abysmal tale with silly useless females where upon she decided to write a tale solely for herself where the girls got to kick butt without the usual sob story--betrayed/abused/abandoned etc. That little tale eventuated into the BirthRight Trilogy.
Nicole's current daydream is that Joss Whedon (aka the genius of film) will discover the BirthRight Trilogy and demand the film rights to it. Until then, she's working on several other writing projects and aiming to explore the world with her partner.
