What a strange wonderful sound world., March 8, 2009

Hatzis takes wonderful long Bruckner lines, turns them, flips them, adds sound tapes and vocal explosions ala Reich to create something uniquely his own. Sort of like if Arvo Part wrote string quartets with John Adams. I listed to it once through. Started it again. Went to bed and the next day listened to it 3xs through. Heard new things each time. Wonderful stuff. Fear not classical music lovers, here is beautiful contemporary without Schoenberg screeching.
