5.0 out of 5 stars ING. EMILIO CRISTANCHO GUEVARA ; e-mail: edfasa@hotmail.com, October 9, 1998

This review is from: Awakening: Conversations With the Master (Paperback)
This is another of the excellent books by Anthony de Mello, because it teaches us HOW to awake from the un-real ILUSIONS that we have about life, love and happiness; for example he teaches us that LOVE is pure gratitute, and we place conditions to us and to the other in order to love them ; consequently we destroy good love relations, and he also mentions in the other books that there is only one necessity : to love, and when the person discovers that, then that person is transformed (modified) and his life changes for the better. He also mentions that to AWAKE means to look sincerily (first rule of psychoanalysis) and find out which are your imanginary jails and why are you afraid ?? , because where there is fear there can not be true love , but when we awake from our sleep and we see reality for what it really is, then our insecurity ends and our fears dis-appear; then we can tell the other person : since I am not afraid of losing you, since you are not object (property of nobody) then I can love you the way you are, without wishes, without addiction , without conditions and without wanting to possess you ; thus then we can achieve love without limits, and without being addicted to the other person , which mean normal love . I recommend very highly this book and all the other books by this excellent pshychologist A. de Mello, because in his books and the postumus books (after he died) he teaches all of us how to understand ourselves better to become better lovers and more tolerable individuals and lovers, to be happier in our personal and professional lives. Sincerely : ING. EMILIO CRISTANCHO GUEVARA; e-mail= edfasa@hotmail.com

5.0 out of 5 stars A little thinking every day, January 20, 1999

An excellent book for people interested in spirituality. It does not matter in what religion you believe(if in any),the short stories about common actions give you something to think about every day.

Read this book, or any book by Tony De Mello, if you are interested in really waking up. If the shockingly simple wisdom doesn't do it, or the perplexing little unexpected twists don't do it, be assured that you will probably wake yourself up with your own laughter.

I am a big believer that medicine does not have to taste bad to be good, and Awakening is the perfect example of this.
