Book Description

A young woman who's lost everything, and the wealthy rancher who must choose between his family's power and his conscience to help her.

CONTEMPORARY WESTERN ROMANCE - The Awakening (#3 in The Outsider Series)
***All books in this series can be read as stand alone, but for more reading enjoyment you may wish to read the series in order starting with the kindle bestseller, The Forgotten Child.

The author brought to life a story that is all but too often right in front of our faces, but we are too busy to see. Amazon Reviewer Grammy

Laura, a young single mother is barely making ends meet working as a maid at the Friessen mansion. Until one day she is fired, the next day she is evicted, and two days later her son is taken away.
Wealthy rancher Andy Friessen can have any woman he wants, but when Laura is fired by his mother over something he was responsible for, well his conscience gets the better of him and he steps in to help. The problem is when he goes looking for Laura he not only discovers she's been living in her car, but the state took her child away.
With Andy standing beside her through a courtroom fiasco, they must fight together to regain custody of her son.

Praise for THE AWAKENING (Andy) ...

Such an amazing story! The despair and the kindness from others gave this story a real  meaning...Down2earth Girl

Well written story about overcoming the stigma of "lower" class and "upper" class! It was love story that kept me reading to see if it would turn out the way I hoped! ...Bartow

If you love your romances filled with passion, the ideals of family, love and loyalty then you'll love THE AWAKENING. The Friessen men are strong sexy alpha males, each book and short story in this series is filled with sexual tension, rough language, and passion.

Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Every book I write has characters near and dear to my heart. The books I write are the ones I want to read, with characters I want to meet, (Okay maybe one or two I'd rather not), but with hero's to cheer for, and always love to hope for.
~ Lorhainne Eckhart

From the Inside Flap

"You have a boyfriend or husband at home?"
"No." That was the last thing she wanted to talk about: Tyler, Gabriel's father, who she hadn't  seen since she was six months pregnant and had been forced to drop out of school. He'd  treated her as if she had something he might catch, running the other way every time he saw  her. Yeah, she got that message loud and clear, but it didn't stop the ache that burned a giant hole where her heart had once beat.

3.0 out of 5 stars BookWhisperer Review December 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
There was not much of a synopsis offer for this book as you can see, so I knew that I was going into this story a little blind. I also have not read the other books of the Friessen Legacy, but I was happy to find that this did not effect the plot line for this particular story. There are moments that I noticed the characters are easily assumed to be in earlier novels, but it was more imperative that I read them to enjoy this books journey.

Andy and Laura are a lot more alike than how it appears. Laura a single mother at twenty is working in the home of the Friessen's. As a maid she is nothing more than a warm body cleaning their rooms and doing chores, but every so often she seem to catch the eye of Andy Friessen. Determined to be nothing like his father he in turn avoids her like the plague, but life through a twist that lands them together. Andy's character is very frosty and difficult to figure out. I was uncertain if his actions were out of a conscious obligation or something deeper, but as the story turns it becomes evident that he has far more interest then settling a disturbed conscious. Laura is a strong and independent character, but this heart wrenching story portrays her at her lowest. After losing a job, her home, and finally her child it is easy to see the dark sinister emotions that take over her character. Refreshingly, it is Andy that become her strong hold. Readers will cheer for this couple when they can finally form a plan to undo everything vicious attempt that Andy's family can concoct. This was a tragic story that as is finally winds down to conclude will uplift your spirits, and leave you warm and fuzzy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly a deep book! February 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Please be aware that you will love this book if you like your characters to be very black-and-white figures. While there is some charm to the story, the whole thing is just a little too simplistic. The bad characters are VERY bad (with no apparent redeeming values) and the good characters are VERY good (with few or no apparent flaws). If you are OK with that and a very simple plot, then you will enjoy this book. If you are looking for three-dimensional characters with some real texture to the story, pass on this book.

I will not be reading any more of this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Do spoiled rich people really have feelings? March 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This refreshing view of a 'poor little rich boy and girl' warms the heart.
Greed and avarice and a willingness to hurt anyone to get their way can skip a generation
This well-written story proves that the apple can fall far from the tree, and selfish people can rear unselfish offspring!
This story also illustrates the difficulties single parents may face while trying to fill the shoes of both parents>

1.0 out of 5 stars Amazed at the high reviews December 9, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is said to be a part of a "dramatic western romance series" and after reading the whole book still don't see the western part of it. If a sub-character who owns horses qualifies it as a western, that would be it.

Too many grammatical errors for such a short story. One that stood out as especially annoying was the need to capitalize China when referring to a tea cup. That may sound trite, but if you're going to go to the trouble of writing, take the time to find an editor or proofreader.

Lack of character development is generally an issue in such a short story. However, I've seen many authors who can pull it off so you feel you know the characters, their backgrounds, etc.. This one didn't do it.

It should be noted somewhere that the books in the series should be read in order. Too many unanswered questions that may (or may not) be found in previous books.

I should have been forewarned when there was only a one line description.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Mothers Love November 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Laura, a girl just fired from her job, no money, thrown out of her home, and a beat up old car, and a small child to care for,
that's more than three strikes against her. It is a book that deals with the very real struggles of survival. You could feel her pain and surprise when strangers reached out to her.

You will root for Laura and want to jump in and help her. Andy surprises me how he fixes not only Laura and Gabriel's life but his own as well.
