Book Description

November 18, 2002
Terrorism looms in the national consciousness. Angela McCulskin, an accountant, is on her way to a conference in New York. Level, at cruise altitude over Arizona, a bomb blows up on her plane and Angela literally awakens in mid-air. Steve Burnett, a work-worn accident investigator is assigned to the case and flies from Atlanta to Arizona to begin his investigation. He begins to have dreams far different than he's had before, dreams about a passenger---a woman---but he always awakens before he can make sense of the dream. Over time he and his team begin piecing together the facts as they work with the wreckage from the airliner. Lives are transformed in a triumph of survival over physical and mental adversity, and a nagging question about dreamstates and their power to influence and guide.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"As I pilot I really enjoyed this book. The author must be a pilot or have extensive aviation experience, because the aviation writing is so accurate and realistic. A must-read for anyone interested in NTSB accident investigations."

5.0 out of 5 stars Awakening in Midair, April 14, 2003

I was blown away from the beginning! The explosives training in the desert was very realistic; I remember the Southern California desert vividly. I cheered as Angela found ways to stay alive and in her rescue. The behind-the-scenes action with the accident investigators was great, I alwsy wondered about that. The terrorism and the way the terrorists got the bomb on the airliner was chilling...It seemd very realistic. The ending was surprising, I didn't think she'd ever fly again.
