Egyptian Book of the Dead, June 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Awakening Osiris: The Egyptian Book of the Dead (Audio Cassette)
It is a pity this book is now out of print. It is, without a doubt, the most beautiful and deeply moving translation of the Egyptian Book of the Dead there is. Each chapter is a marvel of mystical and poetic vision. It is the kind of book one doesn't just read through; one spends many months savoring each of its chapters.

A beutiful and inspiring rendering of these sacred texts relavant to everyday life and the universal sense of sacredness in it,, October 9, 2011
This review is from: Awakening Osiris: The Egyptian Book of the Dead (Audio Cassette)
This is a beautiful translation that opened my eyes to the depths of human experience in the ancient Egyptian kingdoms that we're so used to seeing only from the top of the pyramids and the pharaohs thrones downward... Jean Huston's reading brings it lyrical poetry of these texts to life for our era. She gets a little overdramatic at points, but that only seems to intensify emotional meanings not just the abstract ones and show why those cultures lasted so long, and remain part of our sensibilities today.
