Praise for Book of Shadows(Book 1 in the 'Sweep' series)
''Delectably dark . . . While Tiernan's ingredients are familiar, she stirs the cauldron with engaging, even cinematic, prose and sharply individuates her characters.'' --Publishers Weekly --This text refers to the Audio Cassette edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars The thrilling fifth book in the Sweep series., August 5, 2001
Morgan loved Cal with all her heart, and truly believed he was her soul mate. But then came the realization that Cal and his mother were practicing dark magick. And when Morgan confronted Cal, he tried to murder her. Now she is picking up the pieces of her shattered life as she tries to make sense of Cal's horrible betrayal and the fact that from the moment he met her, he was using her. Not only that, but she is experiencing romantic feelings for Cal's half brother Hunter, feelings she can't ignore. Together, Morgan and Hunter discover that someone in Widow's Vale has called on the dark forces. Has Cal returned to torment her further? After the cliffhanger ending of the last book, all Sweep fans will want to read this book. It's just as good as the other four books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Morgan doesn't know who to trust.... including herself., August 11, 2001
Cal has betrayed Morgan. Has tried to kill her and has used dark magick against her. She doesn't know who to trust. She's now friends with Bree again, and Hunter is now leading Cirrus, like his cousin leads Kithic. There's something going on between her and Hunter, but even though she denies it it gets stronger everyday. Practikal Magick is being forced to close do to a debt and David's Aunt Rosaline dieing. But, mysteriously, the man closing the store 'comes into money' and forgives the debt. Morgan and Hunter know that dark magick is being worked, and they are trying to find out who before something disastrous happens.

Ugh, I did NOT like the cliffhanger in the end. *sigh* Now I gotta get a hold of the sixth one. These are awesome books, and I love the whole story. And that was sad when those guys were destroying Morgan's aunts and her girlfriends house because they are gay.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but Not the Best, August 19, 2001

(REAL NAME)
Morgan has just escaped-barely- from Cal, Selene, and their dark magick. Cal and Selene are gone, but no one knows where, or when they might come back, and what they may do when they return. Without Cal, Morgan is alone (for awhile). The Awakening describes Morgan's grief over Cal, her inability to deal with her feelings for Hunter, and the shaky rebuilding of her friendship with Bree. The reader will learn much more about Hunter's and Cal's father, and that he is still alive. Also, the subplot of the story revolves around how the store Practical Magick is closing due to money problems. Morgan, already having lost Cal, can't bear to lose her haven too. Soon, Morgan and Hunter discover that dark magick is being practiced? Has Cal and Selene returned? Who is the target of this magick? And is it possible that one of Morgan's dearest friends, as Hunter suspects, is responsible? By the end of the book, one witch will be stipped of her or his powers. Although this book is good, it is a dissappointment compared to the others, mainly because it seems to have drifted away from the main plot. However, Morgan's new romance is very cool. I recommend you read it if you have read the others. And if you have not read the first 4 in the sweep series, it is best to start out at #1. Don't worry- you'll "sweep" through them. You'll eat them up like potato chips. lol. This is a really good series, which I recommend to all.
