This is an excellent introduction to the psychic dimension and metaphysics in general.
In part one, the author explores some universal concepts that serve to explain the nature of reality and how psychic awareness is a natural part of that reality. The work of Fritjof Capra, Gary Zukav, Lawrence LeShan, Rupert Sheldrake and Carl Jung is referred to in these chapters and it makes interesting reading.
Part two discusses some of the more common psychic experiences and how to evoke them - through intuition, dreams, meditation and hypnosis. I found the chapters on dreams and dreaming the most interesting. When we dream, our vibrational pattern shifts and we tune to a different spectrum of reality. And if you want to become psychic in a graceful manner, you must allow it to grow out of the practice of meditation.
Part three probes the role of the body, mind and soul in psychic awareness. It discusses the hologram, morphogenetic fields, the conscious, subconscious, superconscious and infinite mind. It also includes a "second verse" to the children's bedtime prayer "Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the lord my soul to keep" in these words received in trance:
"I thy child forever play, about thy knees at close of day, within thy arms I now shall creep, and learn thy wisdom while I sleep."
Part four provides some experiments for the reader that wishes to venture into this exciting realm, and discusses the ultimate purpose of psychic awareness. It includes planning, dream recording, using a pendulum, mental telepathy, open channelling and cultivating one's spirituality. The book concludes with a discussion of psychic awareness as harbinger of global changes, followed by a bibliography and index.
This is a highly impressive text, dealing with all the relevant aspects of the psychic realm and how to cultivate one's psychic powers. The style is engaging throughout and easy to understand. I highly recommend it as a sensible guide to those who are interested in metaphysics but confused by the large number of disciplines and books available.

I've now read my share of psychic "How to" books, but this one takes the cake. This book tells teaches more than how to be psychic, but also where it all comes from, psychology and philosophy, it also combinds scientific facts and experiments to prove psychic existance, thus, giving you a broader aspect of the psychic phenomenon. For those who have finished your beginner books, and want something more in depth and fullfilling, this is the book. After reading this book, I had to order more Edgar Cayce books! Happy reading!

I bought this book a week ago at a local bookstore.
I read it in two days. It is a real delight! In 236 pages, Reed covers the most of ESP, giving credit to hypnosis as a natural channel to connect with our unconscious.
The book is an eye opener (third eye?) on the infinite possibilities that every human being has to connect with his inner mind. It is right there, hidden inside and so easy to reach. With some dicipline and your own audio tape, the teachings of this book can really have an increadible impact on your life.
Buy it, read it and apply it (get a pendulum too!) this is my best recommendation

Ok amazing is kinda a strong word, but as far as understanding goes, this book is awesome. I mean it has everything that you would think to ask and I have read alot of books, but I HIGHLY recommend this one to be your first and I am a pretty tough critic.

This is a good intro into the psychic world, but why is it called an Edgar Cayce Guide? There really isn't that much on Edgar Cayce's technique's, advice, or view on things. Definitely a misnomer. There's a lot of content on other examples of psychic testing and abilities from other sources, but it's almost a ploy putting Cayce in there because he's kind of just mentioned among these other sources. Almost all of the book is spent giving evidence on proving that psychic ability is possible and very little practical techniques until close to the very end.

If you want to read about Edgar Cayce and his advice on psychic abilities, read a different book. You'll be dissapointed if you buy this thinking that it's actually an Edgar Cayce guide.

I have read many books in search of explanations... I would say that this is the most illustrative of all. Chapters and contents are very well structured in order to introduce you to the psychic being you really are.

I encourage those of you, who have been compiling information and have some scattered concepts about psychic development and awareness, to read this book. From my point of view this book have provide me a solid base for growing on psychic development.

The author, Mr. Henry Reed, mentions in the book that he has used some psychic techniques in order to improve the final result of the book when writting it. And after reading it, I really believe he did it so, because as said, this book is great.

This is a book that gets to the point. It's the "how to" book we're looking for. I started reading it Friday evening - and finished it on Sunday. Worth every penny. Thanks Henry.

Edgar Cayce's readings are certainly one of the best resources to aid in the development of psychic abilities, and this book condenses his advice well. Meditation, self-hypnosis, and dreams are powerful ways to increase your own abilities. I can confirm that writing down as much as you can remember about your dreams, ASAP, will dramatically increase the clarity and frequency of them. Other reviewers have done a great job of summarizing this book, so I won't needlessly repeat their descriptions. There are some powerful methods to improve psychic abilities that aren't in the book.

Not only can magnetism be used to heal injuries, it can also be used to increase psychic abilities. Albert Roy Davis, a brilliant scientist who worked with some famous psychics (including the great Harold Sherman), discovered that the North and South poles of magnetism are two different energies with opposite effects on all living organisms. He describes in detail how to use North pole magnetism to increase psychic sensitivities in, "The Rainbow In Your Hands", one of his books. This book also offers a legitimate scientific explanation for telepathy. The research of Davis and Rawls (Davis' associate) proves that the brain functions at much higher frequencies than those currently accepted by mainstream science. Biofeedback research involves frequencies between 1 and 50 CPS (Cycles Per Second). Davis and Rawls state that in addition to these lower frequencies, the brain generates frequencies in the millions of CPS, and that's where the scientific evidence of the brain's ability to send and receive thoughts (and other psychic abilities) is found. This book also explains how to use your own hands to increase psychic abilities, and for healing purposes.

There are some herbs you can use to increase your abilities too. Two herbs widely used in India for millenia are Gotu Kola and Bacopa monniera. These herbs are often called Brahmi (though usually Brahmi refers to Bacopa), which translates to "bringing knowledge of the supreme reality." To significantly increase the effects of these herbs, take some hot pepper (90,000 HU or higher) with them. Studies in recent years have proven that both herbs increase memory and concentration too. Calamus root is another good one. All of these plants are easy to grow and you can find them for sale on the web.

Another book I recommend reading is, "Astral Projection", by Melita Denning and Osborne Phillips (I believe it is now titled "A Practical Guide to Astral Projection"). It's a good book on astral projection and there is a chakra visualization exercise in it that is most impressive. Do this exercise before you go to sleep and you will dream much more vividly. This exercise also works very well for any type of psychic exercise. Denning and Phillips stress the importance of rhythmic breathing, another important detail not mentioned in many other books on the subject. I have found that these two techniques have helped me a great deal.

This is a very solid read, expounding on the spiritual philosophies of the "sleeping prophet", Edgar Gayce, who may well have been one of the most gifted psychics of his era. The author, Dr. Henry Reed does a nice job of interlapping science and metaphysical properties to help guide us into fairly easy to understand excersizes to expand our psychic awareness and abilities, based on Cayce's teachings. I really enjoyed the descriptions and hypothesis of the soul and collective consciousness, and the section on hypnosis as an induction to opening ESP and intuitive awareness was quite fascinating. Would definitely recommend this one to all pursuing their psychic gifts.

This book is awesome!! It taught me so much, it goes deep into subject, so it might not be for evry reader unless you have a mid-level understanding already about this subject and keep your mind wide open for greater knowledge at all times...this book will leave your mouth and your brain wide open!! I enjoyed it! great stuff. I admire E.Cayce and his work!
