This edition has several attractive aspects: compact size, a nice zippered case, fine paper, useful introductions and footnotes to each book, and good maps. But it suffers from several defects.

Most serious of these is the politically correct substitution of the plural number for the singular. For example, Psalm 14 reads "Fools say in their hearts", rather than the time-honored "The fool says in his heart". This does not simply align the translation with contemporary norms of political correctness. It materially changes the thrust of what is being asserted, from one of individual judgement and responsibility to simply a collective aggregation of some fault. I'm mystified at why they chose to do this. My large family edition of the New American Bible has the traditional and more accurate translation.

Some aspects of the typography are anomalous. Biblical references are in the format John 10, 15 (with an embedded blank between chapter and verse) rather than the more compact, readable, and traditional John 10:15. Also, double quotes " are consistently printed as two consecutive single quotes '', which may not look too bad in this review but is a major readability hit in this edition of the NAB.

There are also an unacceptable number of typographical errors in the text and in the notes.

I bought one of these for travel purposes. I have actually bought two of them. After a while, though, the stitching from the zipper case seems to give out. I think I'm going to try the NASB Travel Bible which got RAVE reviews.
