All the Films We Know and Love From the 1930s,
By John Howard Reid (Wyong, NSW Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Award-Winning Films of the 1930s (Paperback)
Think of any well-beloved film of the 1930s like "Gone With the Wind", "The Wizard of Oz", "Grand Hotel", "It Happened One Night", "Goodbye Mr Chips", "San Francisco", "Lost Horizon", "Little Women", "Mutiny on the Bounty", "Stagecoach", "Anthony Adverse", "Sweethearts", "Swing Time", "Boys Town", "Captains Courageous", "Cleopatra", "Wuthering Heights" and "The Adventures of Robin Hood" and you're almost sure to find it in this book which details all the award winners from 1927 through 1939, with full cast and behind-the-camera credits, plus complete release details and background information, including of course the actual awards the movie received.

Read the review for the book ...,
By Dave, The Movie Guy (Fall River, MA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Award-Winning Films of the 1930s (Hollywood Classics) (Kindle Edition)
Book is supposed to be about films of the 30s ... But in the description it mentions the film "Wings". "Wings" is from 1927-28 and actually won the first academy award for best picture at the first Academy Awards ceremony in 1929. Now I'm a little skeptical about buying it, but for $2.99 it'a probably a fun read. Maybe "Wings" was confused with 1930s "Hells Angels" by Howard Hughes ...
