5.0 out of 5 stars Add this to the International Adoption list!
I loved this book! It was very simple but straight-forward. We began reading it to our son when he was 2.5 years old, in preparation of our 2nd adoption (when we'd leave him for about a week to travel to Europe to bring home our next child). We'd personalize it by saying when Mommy and Daddy go away, we come back -- when you go to Aunt Jill's, you come back.

Highly...

2.0 out of 5 stars Better for Children under the age of 3
I bought this book in preparation for a business trip that I am taking where I will be gone for a week. I really thought there would be more to it besides "You go Away" and "You come back" which is basically the extent of the text. For younger children this is perfect - my three year old was bored by page 2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snaps for Dorothy Corey!, November 8, 2005

This review is from: You Go Away (Concept Books (Albert Whitman)) (Hardcover)
This is an amazing book for young children, to educate them about leaving. Almost every child is afraid at some point that their parents won't come back for them when they go away, and this is the perfect book to help deal with it! I especially love the wonderful illustrations and the simple words that make the book perfect for young children. It is also very good at portraying various races instead of just caucasians like many of America's picture books. An all-around good book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Go and Come, October 18, 2000
This review is from: You Go Away (Concept Books (Albert Whitman)) (Hardcover)
The author has written a book that helps children learn that going away from their care-takers is not something to worry about, because they will be coming back. The illustrator has done an excellent job is show real-life pictures. A great book to read with children.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Comfort Food", April 21, 2008

I have read this book to my 2 young grandchildren when their parents were away for a few short days. Both times, it brought relief, comprehension, and comfort to know that their parents "come back". It is written simply and that is its magic. The assurance that "you come back" stated over and over helps the children feel secure and they want to hear it over and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for toddlers, November 18, 2010

This review is from: You Go Away (Board book)
This board book is perfect for toddlers, addressing in a sensitive and positive way, seperation anxiety. Many board books are picture books intended for older children reproduced in a board format and not the perfect match for very young children--the ones who have trouble handling and turning paper pages. This book has very few words per page and addresses the very basic issues toddlers have--many mothers will empathize with the parent who can't even go into the next room to fold the laundry without the child having a fit!
