If you are not familiar with Charlotte Macleod's work, by all means buy this book. The short stories are wonderful. They were wonderful the first time they were printed (1987) in her book titled: "Grab Bag." Nowhere on the cover or inside "It was an Awful Shame..." is this fact mentioned. And, except for the forward by Elizabeth Peters, this is the very same book. I love this author and look forward to everything she writes, but was extremely disappointed by this deception.
