This review is from: Axial Flow Compressors (Hardcover)
Considered the gospel of axial compressors, the book contains much useful information that other authors have skipped (or glanced over) in favor of modern trends that are quite useless without the basics. This book is for the practicing engineer or advanced graduate student, or in general for anyone who wants a solid understanding beyond what CFD is telling you. As an example, simply look at how Horlock deals with radial equilibrium. It is a complete derivation along with a comprehensive table of the all the vortex solutions. Simply fantastic. The book is easy to read and follow. Nomenclature makes sense and is consistent. Not too much narrative or uselss story telling. A must own for compressor engineers and academicians. |
