This review is from: Axiom (Dig) (Audio CD)
From the get-go "Navigator" sets up the scene. Mid-paced, smooth, late 60's early 70's sounding tracks that after they have you, they "really" have you. "Wintertime in Hollywood" will be everyone's favourite summer song. There is a stronger use of the piano than on their previous albums on such tracks as "Everybody Hides Away" and on the jangle of "A Simple Song". "Alone" is a song everyone should hear and ought be the next single with surprisingly quite direct lyrics over a beautiful building orchestration. The great thing about this album is the chorus' float around your head for days, as on "Ordinary Lives". Try hearing that song 3 times and not hearing it in your dreams !. There seems to be a slight Procol Harum type influence permeating the album as well. As is oft heard "this band deserves a much wider audience" but in this case that assumption is never more spot on. All three albums "Be What You Want", "Meditations" and "Axiom" are great...do purchase.. (at least listen to them ......... )
