This is a very good quality, sturdy rack.

The rack, however, would have fit better if the height was adjustable.

I've used Axiom gear for years, and I love it.

I've been using Axiom Journey racks for at least five years. I've used them for regular long distance commutes with heavy loads and general purpose transport. In fact, I've even strapped a small dresser to one once and slowly biked it home for a mile or two from a yard-sale.

In my opinion, this rack blows the competition away. This rack is rated at a 70kg (154lbs) load capacity. Most tubular aluminum racks aren't even rated at half that.

The Axiom Journey is the only thing keeping me from shelling out for a $100+ steel touring rack. The next time I buy a rack, I'm going to get another one of these. However, I suspect that my current racks will last well into the future.

Highly recommended. For this price (or even two times this price), you will not be disappointed.

I returned an Avenir Universal rack that I had ordered, because it was poorly designed and wouldn't fit my pretty standard road bike. The second time around I did a little more research to figure out what rack had the best quality and fit. For only about $10 more than the Avenir, I purchased the Axiom Journey, and it was so much better (for still a great price) that I almost couldn't believe it.

The Journey has thick, strong tubes and beefy welds that inspire confidence. The shape and tube arragement are strong, and perfect if you're going to mount panniers. I really like the fully adjustable heavy duty front brackets that mount to the frame near the rear brakes. These are much stronger and more confidence inspiring than the flimsy flexible silver metal strips that come with 80% of bike racks.

This rack was super easy to install, fit perfectly level and true without any hassle. I have since purchased Axiom Lasalle DLX Pannier Set (Black and Grey) Pannier Bags, and they mount perfectly on the rack. I had not been familiar with the Axiom brand before I bought these products, but they are bulletproof and inspire confidence, while looking good. Recommended!!

Bought this rack last night at the local bike shop. I am a bike commuter, and needed a sturdy rack for panniers and a trunk bag. When you look at this rack next to others in the shop, it looks and feels more substantial. It is rated at about 150 pounds capacity, and I believe it. I just don't think I'd want to pedal my bike with that much weight!

Installed the rack on my 2004 Giant Boulder SE 26", and it is a good fit. The rack sits low and relatively far back, which I like, since it leaves room between the panniers and my feet. I am using the rack with a new set of Jandd Economy Panniers (which I've also reviewed), and an old Sunlite trunk bag with velcro strap attachments. Everything fits very well, and allows me the flexibility of any combination of bags that I want.

I like the lower horizontal bar. It keeps the panniers away from the rear wheel, and also allows me to vary the front-to-back position of the bags. It looks to me like Axiom uses a slightly larger tubing for the rack than others. The top clips of the Jandd bags are very snug on the side rails of the rack, which is a good thing - no noise, no sliding, no bouncing.

I was concerned, before I saw the actual rack, about how the front struts would fit my bike. As it turns out, they are very adjustable front-to-back and side-to-side. I had to move the reflector from near the axle, as it was in the way of the rack mount - now it is up on the reflector mount on the back of the rack.

Props to Niagara Cycle Works for answering my inquiry informatively about how the rack fits - I would have bought from them through Amazon online, but was with my wife at the bike shop, and she wanted to go ahead and buy the rack and panniers for an early birthday present, and I saw no reason to argue in public. :o}

A mild frown at Axiom - I opened a support ticket with them last week with the same question, and I haven't heard back at this point.

Went to my local Wally World to buy a Zefal Rear Rack for about $30.00. They had one left NOT in the original packaging. Perhaps a return. No one could find a price or bar code to scan. I had the web page printed up & in my hand! Evidentaly, Wally World didn't want my $$$. Their loss - not mine.

When my LBS (local bike shop) opened for the day, I found this one instead. Glad I did. Read the specs...Rack Weight Limit:150lbs! Says the same thing on the Axiom website. I doubt I'll ever load it up that much. But nice to know it's there.

I bought this rack to replace a TREK interchange rack, and I couldn't be more pleased. I've done numerous overnights loaded with camping gear and the rack is rock solid. It also rides far enough back that my heals don't hit the panniers, a big plus.

Great rack, and would be 5 stars but for one thing. The top connectors can be resized, and they are stabilized by a screw on top and an allen bolt underneath, and these need to be TIGHT with heavy loads and hard climbs. (I would suggest tightening these about once a season for commuters and once a trip for touring nuts.

Aside from that, they allow for the saddle bags to sit farther back for those of us with adult feet, and its rated to higher lbs than any other rack system I've seen. Just make sure to remember that a rear reflector is not supposed to come with.
