Very good quality and a remote!

If you get too close the images are grainy and there's very little visibility from the side (which has more to do with LCD than it does this frame in particular).

Within 1 month, the backlight failed.

I almost gave this 2 stars instead of 1, as it worked pretty easily out of the box and the clock feature is a good idea, but then I discovered that it has less than half the claimed resolution which seems like a flat-out false claim.

Reasons I am sending it back for a refund: This frame is not 640x480 and is not 4:3 ratio.

The size of the screen is about 8" x 4.1". Not only is that not 4:3, it is not even 16:9.

When you display standard 4:3 photos, they should have a 1.33 ratio. On this frame, they are displayed at about 6.4" x 4.1", which is a ratio of 1.56. That means the photos are squashed and it makes faces look fatter than they really are.

The pixels are quite visible, so I counted in the vertical direction. I counted 24 pixels in about 0.47", which means there are only about 210 pixels in the entire vertical direction. Not nearly the claimed 480.

I ordered this frame for my mother-in-law for Christmas. I chose this one because it was USB compatible and had an internal memory. First of all the so called user manual is a trifold pamphlet about a 4" by 12" rectangle that leaves alot of information out. I could find nowhere where it told me how many pictures the frame could hold (I found out by looking on the website)and the only way I can access a slide show of the pictures in the memory is to go to setup, delete files, sort, and finally I can get to a slide show (this information I discovered by trial and error, because the manual doesn't make it clear how to access the memory once the pictures are saved). Once you start this slide show its fine. The clock and calendar work fine, but I haven't tried the alarm. The only way you can play photos using the photo option on the main menu is by inserting a memory stick or card. Unfortunately the slide show keeps stopping after a few pictures, and when I try to accesss them through thumbnail mode it shows no pictures on the stick and shows a blank screen. It has even turned itself off several times when the screen goes black. I also have no idea how to load music and there is no information about this in the manual. I'm waiting for a call back from axion's customer service, but this is definitely too much inconvenience for my mother-in-law, and I'm prepared to stick it back in the box and return it.

I bought this digital frame for my mom's birthday and she loves it! It has slideshow and plays MP3 songs. The coolest thing is the clock and alarm function. My mom can now replace her alarm clock with this cool digital frame. Perfect gift for any mom!

Guys! before you buy a LCD picture frame. The resolution makes a lot of difference. That said, this picture frame performs good, however its like "You get what you pay for".

I made a mistake by buying this, looking at the low price. However I am not going to do that again and preferably buy a LCD frame with a better resolution.

Picture quality.
The screen resolution of 720x480 seem to be the new high standard for these kind of gadgets. It is certainly better than most "cheap" frames with pathetic low resolution screens. The display format though (wide) would make more sense if this frame could play video clips as well (as the format seem to be more appropriate for video than for stills). Many pictures, includeing ones taken with 3:2 format cameras, will show with black bans on the side (that is unless you take the time to edit them to fit this screen). The image quality is nowhere as bright and vivid as an lcd tv or computer monitor.

Construction / materials.
The floating black body in transparent frame is a nice design. The materials quality (particularly the black plastic part) is not super attractive. Also the swiveling stand seem to have been design to work with a much shorter frame (as it would be if there was no transparent frame); the frame seem to be leaning too far back. (It's easy to prop it up with any object on your desk...).

Functions.
The calendar and time functions are a nice addition. The frame can also play sounds (mp3) and sounds + pictures. Once again, Axion could have stretched it a bit more and included video capabilities.
The internal memory (16 pics max, no matter what the file size is) can only be used for screensaver storage. You can only choose to play (using the play command in the remote) images that you may store in your (not included) memory card (SD).

Conclusion: it does its job honestly but it doesn't deliver that extra something that could have made it an excellent product.

Amazon is now out of this product, but I wanted to review it in case it comes back in.

I have a big digital Kodak frame for my home that holds 6,000 photos (a parents' and grandparents' dream), but I also wanted a small one to use as a "brag frame" when out and about, showing the kids and grandkids photos to one and all. :-)

This frame is perfect for that purpose because it's small, fits on my key chain for easy access and now I'm never without pics of my kids. I like the red color because it's bright and cheerful and the heart because it signifies love. I haven't checked to see if it really holds fifty-six photos, as claimed, because I don't need that many.

As for features, read the Amazon description; I'm pleased with them. As for ease of use, it was very easy to load and easy to recharge.

All in all, I'm happy with my new "toy." What more can I say?
