Icaros are songs that have been given to an apprentice shaman by the spirit of the plant or animal that is the focus of his/her attention and journey. The Icaros on this CD are very well done, and highly recommended for anyone interested in researching traditional use of Yage in a native context. The singers voices ring with the truth and innocence of children, reminding us of who we really are. note: the lyrics are by no means explicit, quite the opposite as they cleanse the enviornment in preparation for sacred work. I found myself singing along, and still hum the very catchy icaros long after hearing them.

I have used this CD in a huasca ceremony here in Brazil. I must say that the latinamerican shamanism of this CD is really authentic. The magical effects (in the light of huasca) were very strong, so much as the alive songs that we call "chamadas" ("callings") we use to conduct in the session. Absolutely amazing!

This is something you should keep close to yourself and listen in those times when everything else fails.

Also, a must for people to learn that there is much more to ayahuasca than a simple colorful trip.

One of my favorite collections of Ayahuasca icaros. I highly reccomend this cd to anyone interested in this medicine and the music that surrounds these ceremonies. Blessings to all.

Don Luis was the Ayahuascaro for my first ceremony. He guided me, nutured me and kept me safe throughout the whole ceremony. This ceremony was the most life changing experience in my whole life. Don Luis sang for 4 hours straight on that ceremony and it was amazing. I recommend this to anyone who is serious about Mother Ayahuasca.

Excellent CD of icaros by don Luis Vasquez, comes with descriptions of the songs so you kow if they are for protection, defense, etc. Very enchanting to listen to during ceremony.

The Magical effects of these songs can be felt within the first time of listening to "Ayahuasca Songs from the Peruvian Amazon". The sacred icaros are felt coaxing and awakening the spirit of la medicina within the listener, where she dwells forever after sitting in ceremony with her. This cd can be an incredibly powerful tool to use after attending/in-between ceremonies to "remember" her presence and magic, rekindling and strengthening her effects to work healing magic in ones life. The purity and powerful intention of this medicine man as well as the clarity achieved through his work on himself are clearly transmitted through this recording.

This is an amazing opportunity to receive the magic and blessings of the Amazon for those who have never been there nor had the chance to sit with such a True medicine person as this one recorded here, likewise amazing possibilities for renewal of magic and blessing for those who have been so lucky.

I'm curious about the decision to place the "explicit lyrics" designation on this product. What's the rationale?

This CD is really simple. It is a clear recording of an authentic Shaman singing, that is it. There are no effects, no background music, no narrator giving a documentary (although that would be cool so heads up you anthropologists out there). It is for a yage ritual and a means of saving what seems to be another dying and doomed culture, yet I am surprised at how often I enjoy listening to this when it is mixed in with other music. It encourages me to find out a little about what is left of the indigenous cultures in the west. That being said, I only give it 3 stars because it gets pretty dull trying to listen to the whole thing. Maybe if I was lucky enough to experience Ayahuasca while listening to it, I would find more interest in it.
