this book kicks a**,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ayn Rand 2-copy set (Paperback)
The fountainhead is the kind of book that changes your life. I have read it over four times now, and each time i find something different to make me think. Some of the speeches drag on but they are necessary to explain Ayn Rand's far reaching ideas. The characters are fantastic as is the plot. When i first read it I couldn't put it down...I read for two days straight. Howard roark is the best hero of modern literature. Read this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An amazing reading experience,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ayn Rand 2-copy set (Paperback)
Let me start off by saying that i'm a high school student and the only reason i picked this book was because there was a scholarship contest pertaining to it. I was incredibly suprised when i found myself totally enjoying the book. Although some parts of it are drawn out a little more than necessary, reading it was a totally worthwile experience. Once i started reading it, it was extremely hard to put down. Rand has a great style of writing which will make you feel as if you are part of the story. I highly recommend this book to all.

Two of the best books ever written,
By Allen Tipper (tipper@provide.net) (Woodhaven, MI, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ayn Rand 2-copy set (Paperback)
Ayn Rand's books and the philosophy they describe are probably the best achievment any single author has ever had. These books should change the way anyone who reads them thinks, or at least affirm their assumptions. The world is being ruined by the people who believe in the ideas of living for others and not for themselves alone, and these books will help change the mind of anyone who reads and understands them.

Very deep, Intellectual,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ayn Rand 2-copy set (Paperback)
These books are out of this world! I love it. I consider Atlas Shrugged as the bible of my life. . The philosophical approach of the author is unbelievable. John Galt represents "reality" in the real world. Intellectuals and their ideals do exist. These books are about soul searching and then finally, keeping peace with your soul. I recommend these books to everybody. And do not forget We The Living, too!!!!!

The Fountainhead and Atlas shrugged are those kinds of books which changes your way of thinking.Possibly because these prompts you to think and question. It is a unique experience going through these books, almost a journey in which you challenge everything that you might have considered it to be true just because someone else told you so. An eyeopener.

Risky!!,

Risky reading for those of you who do what you're told and never question "authority"(yes, this includes "god"). Be careful when you read these novels, they lead to thinking similar to mine, individualistic. A must read for anyone home-schooling their kids.

Rand's work changes with the reader's changing perspective,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ayn Rand 2-copy boxed set (Paperback)
Rand's work (and its meaning) changes with the reader's changing perspective. As a college student first reading her work I found it cold, unfeeling and far too focused on social Darwinism. Twenty years later, I find that - taking into account the extremes designed to make a point - her work has new relevance. Certainly Howard Rourke is one of the great romantic heros of our time. In an era that spawned a great deal of immitation, he represents the individual sufficiently commited to a unique philosophy to suffer emotionally and financially on its behalf. Atlas Shrugged, on the other hand, reminds us of the importance of risk takers and innovators to the continued growth and economic health of the society. The industrialists of Rand's world could easily be replaced with the high tech entrepreneurs of the 90's and perhaps she'd seem less radical

Just My Opinion,
By Lucy Flake (Butte, Montana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ayn Rand 2-copy set (Paperback)
I am senior in high school and decided to read THE FOUNTAINHEAD for a scholarship. It took quite a bit of effort to find a copy of this book in the rural area where I live. Even my english teacher who suggested I read it had never read it. When I finally located a copy, I had no idea what to expect. I just started. After a few pages I thought it was all about architecture. Further reading, though, led me to realize that it was really about human nature. I found this book interesting not because of the twisted, mixed-up plot, but because of the way in which the characters dealt with circumstances. I think this book should be read by all high school students to help them realize how they and others think, even if it's not the way Howard Roark or Peter Keating thought. Though there wasn't a character in the book with whom I really understood or could relate with, I found THE FOUNTAINHEAD to give great insight into many of the differences in people. I realize that I am just 17 years old and haven't experienced much, but I recommend this book to any and everyone!

AYN RAND,
By BRENDA FERNANDEZ (LAHAINA, HAWAII) - See all my reviews

READING IS MY PASION, IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN, AND I'VE READ NUMEROUS BOOKS BUT I'LL TELL YOU THIS, IF ANYONE HAS EVER READ THE FOUNTAINHEAD BEFORE IN HIS/HER LIFE...WILL KNOW WHAT A REALLY GOOD BOOK IT IS. I WAS GIVEN THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FROM A SPECIAL PERSON, FIRST, FOR IT'S SIZE I THOUGHT TWICE BEFORE DECIDING TO READ IT, BUT AS I READ IT I COULN'T STOP MYSELF. IT'S DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EACH CHARACTER, AND THE PSYCHOLOGYCAL REASONING THEY CHARACTERS MAKE, MAKES THIS BOOK THE BEST EVER. IT DEALS WITH THE STRUGGLES US, MANKIND, GO THROUGH, IT ENCIRCLES THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PEOPLE, WHAT SETS US APART FROM ONE ANOTHER AND THE WAY WE THINK. I IDENTIFIED WITH HOWARD ROARK...OH WHAT A WONDERFUL CHARACTER! NEVER GIVING UP! MY RESPECT FOR HOWARD. THE FOUNTAINHEAD IS CLEARLY THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN AND IT HAS BEEN FOR MANY GENERATIONS LIKE MINE. READ IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT! CONGRATULATIONS AYN IS THE BEST BOOK EVER.

A Profound Life Experience,
This review is from: Ayn Rand 2-copy set (Paperback)
This book frightened me at first because everyone I have ever known to read said they have had a life changing experience from reading it. I finally read it. The story wrapped me up in the beginning and carried me through till the end. And when I was done, I was a different person. Be fearful and in awe of works like this.
