THROUGH MY EYE by Paul-Henri Cahier, February 8, 2005
This review is from: Ayrton Senna Through My Eye (Paperback)
"Any creative endeavor is a raid on the inarticulate" - T. S. Elliott
Some things are truly beyond words. Despite the volumes of books attempting to describe the magic that made the late great Ayrton Senna da Silva the legend he was -- we have been left wanting . . . until now.
No other photographer today carries the mantle of resident artist in the rarified airs of the world that is Formula One better than Paul-Henri Cahier. As a second generation F1 photographer PHC began his brushes with greatness early on as a wee boy playing ping-pong with house guests like like the legendary Fangio and other grand prix luminaries who were part of his famous father Bernard Cahier's menagerie d' bon amis.
The photographic images of Paul-Henri Cahier are an inexhaustible invitation to discovery of things that are simply not possible to ascribe to the written word alone. With the prodigious gift that is Cahier's visual poem for our fallen hero we have returned to the place of joy and remembrance our hearts have longed for since the world changed forever on the black weekend of May 1994.
This book takes us beyond the mere surface of the image and into the realm of mystique. Like Senna before him Cahier is transcendent in his art form where both talents on display are a tantalizing thing of beauty to behold. Any serious collection of motor sport is incomplete without this definitive aesthetic masterwork.
