Book Description

October 1, 2001
Being in balance, both within oneself and with the world around you, is at the heart of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian science of holistic health care. According to Ayurveda, it is the imbalance of your vital energies that leads to illness, poor health and discontent. Authors, Anna Selby and Ian Hayward, show how to incorporate the basic practice of Ayurveda into our modern Western world to relieve stress and promote health and longevity. The basics are simple. Once you have discovered your body type, you can learn how to tailor diet, exercise and relaxation specifically for you. You can then learn how to detox efficiently, select the optimum foods for your body, achieve your perfect home environment, make the most of your leisure time, and basically, live the lifestyle which is perfect for you.

In addition to helping identify your body type, Ayurveda offers practical information on incorporating Ayurvedic practices, programs, and wisdom into your daily life, such as breathing exercises, meditation, massage and more. This profoundly practical, visual, and accessible book brings the secrets of Ayurveda in to your home so you can balance your body, mind and spirit.
