AYURVEDA, a 5000-year-old tradition of medicine still practiced in India, offers opportunities in topical skin care. Ayurvedic ingredients, which are obtained mostly from plant and mineral resources, can provide unprecedented anti-aging benefits in combination with modern technologies of active-agent purification, formulation, targeted delivery systems and biochemical evaluations.
While Ayurvedic formulations have been used for ailments including diabetes, obesity and arthritis, there appear to be no specific topical Ayurvedic treatments for anti-aging. (1)
