As a former professional bicycle mechanic, I can't stand noisy or poorly adjusted brakes. It's a pet peeve. Therefore, I change shoes/pads more often than most commuting cyclists and I've tried several different brands over the years. All of them have been at least adequate.
The Aztec Ultra-V shoes/pads are well made, install easily, lend themselves to precise adjustment, last a long time, and have excellent "feel" at a great price point. What differentiates them from the competition? Great price point. Enough said.

No under $300 bike should still be with its stock brake pads. Do yourself a big favor and upgrade your brake pads with these Aztec Ultras and you will see the HUGE difference in braking power.
Now my bike stops quicker under dry as well as wet conditions.
