As a former professional bicycle mechanic, I can't stand noisy or poorly adjusted brakes. It's a pet peeve. Therefore, I change shoes/pads more often than most commuting cyclists and I've tried several different brands over the years. All of them have been at least adequate.

The Aztec Ultra-V shoes/pads are well made, install easily, lend themselves to precise adjustment, last a long time, and have excellent "feel" at a great price point.

What differentiates them from the competition? Great price point. Enough said.

Easy to install. Increased braking power by at least 3x over stock pads. Great product.

No under $300 bike should still be with its stock brake pads. Do yourself a big favor and upgrade your brake pads with these Aztec Ultras and you will see the HUGE difference in braking power.
Now my bike stops quicker under dry as well as wet conditions.

Great pads. Easy to install, quiet, and very effective.

These pads start off providing initially strong braking performance, however this quickly degrades as the pad material wears onto the rim, highly degrading braking performance creating an unsafe situation; moreover, it makes the rims absolutely filthy. They make something of a grinding noise when they touch the rim. Avoid these pads!

Used these pads to replace the stock pads on a new tandem making an awful grinding noise. These pad don't make that noise but do squeal a little, hopefully some more fine adjustments will fix that.

I only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I've only been using the product for about 2 weeks. The pads I had on previously were also very good, but my son who was using what used to be my bike, finally got another bike and wanted the pads back (he put on last fall). So I purchased these after reading the customer reviews. I don't notice any difference in any way from the previous pads; actually very similar. Which is to say they are very good.

I would have paid a little more, and purchased them at a local shop (which I had to do any way)had I known they wouldn't arrive in time.
