Lifestyles of the Aztec Rich and Famous,
By A Customer
This review is from: Aztecs (Hardcover)
This sumptous book, amply illustrated with beautiful color photos, is the catalog for a recent art exhibit in London. The perspectives of the exhibit and the book glorify the aesthetic aspects of the Aztec empire and nobility. This is a beautiful introduciton to Aztec royal art. If you want a more balanced account of Aztec society, however, with an emphasis on daily life of the non-rich and non-famous, see the new edition of Smith's textbook, The Aztecs (2003, Blackwell).

This review is from: Aztecs (Paperback)
This book is largely composed of photos of items exhibited at a British Museum showing of Aztec pieces. The photos are superb but the text is superficial and weak. The book would have been much better if the text had been expanded and better organized.
