5.0 out of 5 stars His best so far
After "Mi vida sin tu amor", I thought Cristian had reached a pinnacle that would only be followed by lower quality productions. But I was absolutely wrong. In my opinion, "Azul" is even better than any of his previous works. Every song seems to be carefully crafted to give you an excellent CD.

2.0 out of 5 stars Blue, like a box of Sominex.
Did you like Alejandro Sanz's "El Alma Al Aire" but find it a just little too raw, too rough? Never fear. Cristian/Christian/Christian Castro and producer Kike Santander have delivered the ultimate in overblown orchestral quasi-sentimentality. Castro hits some really high notes on this CD, but why? Does it convey feeling? No, all it conveys is "Hey guys, I...

My favorites are: Solo, Dos amantes, Cupido and Con ella. Also, the title track, which is a simple but refreshing song.
In this CD Cristian shows the incredible range and great sweetness of his voice. In a world where a lot of mediocre or bad singers get a lot of recognition, I'm glad that a really talented and gifted singer like Cristian is finally getting the international acclaim he deserves.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crisitan- supernatural vocalist, July 20, 2001

Everytime I hear Cristian sing a song, I'm blown away. His voice is unbelievable. The range, power, emotion and phrasing is just beyond words. His new CD "Azul" is his best yet. He sets a whole new standard for vocalists in general in any language. He is in a class by himself. His ballads are beautiful, grandiose works of art and his uptempo songs are fully charged with fiery vocals and energetic rythyms. Listen to "Solo", "Con Ella" "Gli Amori"(Los Amantes) Every song deserves mention. You do not have to be fluent in Spanish to enjoy and appreciate this great CD. The feeling transcends the language. He uses his voice to convey his feelings. It can be soft as in "Nuestro Amor" or it can rip you apart i.e. in "Con Ella" I can't say enough. The instrumentation is lush and full with beautiful strings playing on the ballads and rythmic guitars on the uptempo cuts. Cristian is a truly unique and supertalented artist. "Azul" is a wonderful collection of songs. If you enjoy feeling an album then this is undoubtedly the CD for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only for the Romantic!!!!!!, July 24, 2001
This review is from: Azul (Audio CD)
I believe that the simple things are the best and most effective way to bring a point over and touch one's heart! For that reason I have decided to review this album in very simple words!!!In my Opinion this is the best album of the year, if not it atleast contains the song of the year, This song I am talking about is "Solo", It has so much emotion, so much feeling and it WILL touch your heart like you will never imagine! His voice is incredible, joint first with marc anthony in my opinion and in some cases even better, just listen and REPEAT the way he finishes the song Solo, the way he takes out all that emotion and feeling! Trust me you would not regret buying this album, if you do not like this album, I must say you are surely not a true ROMANTIC, you are not a person with feeling and emotion and most certainly u do not know the feeling of Love!!! Buy It! Every song is EXCELENT!!To be sincere the only songs which I may describe as OK will have to be "Azul", "nuestro amor" and "amantes de occasion"!! If u liked the song "Volver amar" of Christian Castro(which is my best song till date), You would Love this! I hope you enjoy it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Brilliant!, June 5, 2001

Once again Cristian has come back to deliver another great album. Throughout the years Cristian has not only devoloped his vocals and artistic range as a singer, but he has ventured into different genres as well. This is most noticeable in the song "Llorar por Dentro" which carries a mariachi theme, and a beautiful song "Gli Amori" which is sung in Italian. Through the album you can hear the true talent of this gifted artist in his voice, lyrics, and the emotions felt through his inspirational music. My favorite song is "Solo". Although a bit on the melancholic side, this is a great song as well as the more upbeat title track "Azul." Once again, Cristian has come through with a quality production that is sure to please all.

Again Cristian Castro provides an excellent cd. I must admit that I first thought that the cd was more up beat, like the song "Azul", but after listening I found out that it is composed of soft romantic ballads (with the exception of Azul and LLoviendo Estrellas). Another beautiful song to enjoy is "Gli Amori" which he sings in Italian. You will not want to leave this Cd out of your collection.

Cristian's latest album, "Azul", is without a doubt an excellent CD. Cristian has teamed up with producer Kike Satander again (after working with him on "Mi Vida Sin Tu Amor"), and like before have created a CD that is great and has many great songs. For me, "Yo Quería", "Lloviendo Estrellas", "Solo", "Dos Amantes", and "Azul" are the best of the group. All of the other songs are in their own right, also very good and interesting to listen to. "Solo" is an interesting song with an interesting tempo and background behind it, but it is quite catchy, as is the first single of the album, "Azul". Filled with an upbeat, faster version than any other song on the CD, the song "Azul", is without a doubt an excellent song to dance to, as well as, listen to. If you had liked any earlier Cristian CD, you will like this CD. Even if you just like Latin music or pop, this CD is also a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars The ending of "Lloviendo Estrellas", June 19, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Azul (Audio CD)
Okay, I just had to come on here and write a review that comments on the end of the song "Lloviendo Estrellas." What Cristian does here is amazing. He brings his voice up into the stratosphere but does not go into his falsetto. You know what I'm talking about, everyone who has the album. Here's what he does. He goes LOOOOOO DA DA DA HAY EE-Ay Ee-Aaaaaaay Looo DO DO LO LO LO LO LO LOOOOOOOOOOO. LA DA DA DA-AA-AA LAAAAAA LA-AA-AA. AAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I always have to listen to that part over and over again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Is The Title Song A Satire? Or Is It Serious?, January 28, 2004
By
Timothy H. Penn (South Windsor, CT USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Azul (Audio CD)
Another reviewer wrote that he could not believe that Cristian was serious about the title song when he saw the video for it. I haven't seen the video, but I had the same thought when I heard the title song, "Azul." This song has every single cliche of the 1980s power pop sound. And I do mean EVERY single cliche! It is really amazing to hear all of those cliches in one song, especially one that was NOT produced in the 1980s. That's why I think that this song and its musical arrangement might be a satire of 1980s American pop music. Either that, or Cristian loved that style of music when he was growing up (he was a child and teenager in the 1980s) and decided that he wanted to record a song that had that particular sound. The musical arrangement is so different from everything else on the album that it just doesn't seem possible that this was done seriously. I think it's either satire, or just a fun and silly thing Cristian wanted to do.
