4.0 out of 5 stars Good Game Great Graphics, This one could take Awhile!
I bought this game the day it came out and unlike previous reviewers on this page, have played the game for many hours. First, the graphics are top notch. The enviornments are amazing. The water and lava look real, I would rent it just to look at them. The controls are pretty stait forward, and I adjusted to them in about a few minutes. Second, the game play is very...

3.0 out of 5 stars You'll need skill and patience to play this one
Graphics are good, sound is ok. If you like Zelda for N64 then you'll like Azurik too.

Rent it first, then you decide to buy it or not...

Second, the game play is very good. The worlds almost seem endless. You can explore maps for hours. Finally, the game play is pretty good. This game will consume hours of your time if you truely plan to finish. The only problem I have with this game is searching for the pieces of the elements can be quite boring. Depending on how lucky you get, it could take hours before finding pieces of the elements (the whole point of the game). Also, the game play can be quite difficult at times. That is why I have given the game 4 stars. You have to really be dedicated to continue playing the game. Although, some people will really love the challenge. I've read the game takes about 75 hours to finish. In my opinion I think the game would take longer. I hoped this helped those of you thinking about buying the game. Happy Gaming!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great!!!!, December 3, 2001

I think that this game is awesome, it has very good graphics(not perfect), and is a very long adventure game, that gamers will like. But I should say this game is not for everyone, it is not for people that get frustrated easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars What game are you guys playing?, December 31, 2001

This review is from: Azurik: Rise of Perathia (Video Game)
To those who hate this game: I am not sure what game you guys are playing because I think it is great. I can only guess that it is to hard for some people but the difficulty is what appeals to me. If you are not sure about this game please do yourself a favor and rent it first, I rented Halo and Azurik at the same time and think they are both great games but I only bought Azurik and not Halo. There is so much area to explore in the game that I spent 3 1/2 hours the first time I played it and only saw a small fraction of the world. If you want the freedom to explore a new and pretty cool world then this game is perfect for you. If you want a game that tells you were to go, when to go, and how to do it then this is not the game for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great game that will be loved by all true action/rpg fans, January 1, 2002

First of all, I've noticed that most 'proffesional' reviews of this game I've read give it a poor or mediocre rating, but all fan reviews give it a great or perfect. Hmm... Obviously the people who took the time to play it through found it to be alot of fun. Basically, this game is fun if you like the genre. I think its absolute bull when people say Halo is a much better game or something like that. Comparing two games of two different genre's is pointless and inaccurate. Okay, down to the actual review. I found this game to be very addicting. The world is huge with tons to explore. The world is also very imaginative and original. The main character is also very well done. I really liked his personality. The music isn't that great, but it definitly adds to the atmospere. It can get downright creepy at times. The controls were a little tricky to get used to at first, but after about half an hour, you get used to them and they don't become a problem. There are points in the game that seem pretty frusterating, but it doesn't really take away from the fun of the game, it just adds a challenge. Overall, I definitly recommend this game to everyone who considers themselves a fan of action/rpg games with alot of challenging puzzles.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Awesome Game, January 8, 2002

This game didn't really have that much hype as the other games that were coming out for the XBOX especially like Halo, Dark Summit, and NFL Fever....but being an RPG fan myself, I figured I would rent it first to see if I like it...and it did not disappoint...What I like about this game is that it is completely different from Halo, and even though I love Halo, it was a nice turn of events to have a old-school two sided spear..and the intricacies of the elements by using them in different combinations...you get different weapons, armors, and even wings to fly...I defintitley could not put the controller down and was supremely [mad] when I had to return it...but I did go out to buy it and when I put the brand new disc in...Low and Behold the Hard Drive saved all my stuff so I didn't have to start over...How stoked it that??? Anyways This game is a must for RPG lovers and will not disappoint...This game assured will blow the gamecubes Zelda into little bits...

4.0 out of 5 stars Not so solid, but a run for your money, June 14, 2002

I have heard a lot said about Azurik, some negative, others positive, mostly ngative. I just want to make a few things clear, this here is a GOOD game, it shouldn't be overlooked by Action/Adventure fans, oh, there's sort of a RPG feel, but in the long run,it's just not there. I have played this game a lot, twice just for the run, the others for the feel, I love the feel, it's true action for your hands. Yes the controls are hard to get, well actually, the buttons on the controller are colored as the elements in the game, so it's easy to get the element right in the heat of battle. Fast hands develope better skils at element triggering. So, here is the overall scoop, a good game at a good price and many hours glued to your tv screen. A better pick than Oddworld, Genma, and Obi-Won. Pick it up, or rent it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Could be the surprise game of the year., November 24, 2001
By

This game has the potential to be the surprise game of the year. It has the potential to be what all of us wanted Zelda to be on the gamecube but will not be because of the extremely childish graphics. This game has amazing graphics, it is made specificly for the X box to show off its graphical capabilities. Someone said the characters looked like they had a low polygon count, like many this person had no idea what they were talking about. The main character is constructed from 7000 polygons, there are no loading screens because of the hard drive, the story should be deep and immersive and should not completely bore adults out there. On several other sites it has also been mentioned that the game promises 75 hours of gameplay, a total that will rival even final fantasy. This game has the potential to be one of the greatest ever and looks like it might just be the best action adventure game of the year and should blow zelda out of the water. I give this a definate 4 stars with the posibility of a 5 or even going off the charts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Still a solid game after 9 years, May 10, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Azurik: Rise of Perathia (Video Game)
Ok, so this game was released in 2001 and by todays standards has not aged very well. Regardless of that there is still a very solid game to be found. For the life of me I cant figure out why people would say this is one of the worst games on the xbox. The environment is great as are the powers; I have always loved the concept of harnessing the four elemental powers. this game is not perfect but is still lots of fun and will keep you busy for hours. Since this game barely broke even it is probably too much to hope for to have a sequal especially after so long without word of one. not sure how many people this will reach, but credit is due to this game and I think that the devs could have hit a home run with a sequal asssuming they took their time with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Xbox game in the world!, February 26, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Azurik: Rise of Perathia (Video Game)
This game is the best and I don't give a hoot what anyone says about it. Sure there are things that can be improved in this game (like all games, even Halo could be better, especially Halo 2), but have any of you haters ever stopped to think about what this game brought to the gaming table?! Totally non-linear gameplay with an estimated 4,000 acres of places to roam, no loading screens (except one when you are going ingame, but it only shows up sometimes), full scene antialiasing 4x (Halo 1 and 2 had so much aliasing it was rediculous), polygon counts reaching 300,000 without slowing down, etc. This game deserves more credit than it was given.
