5.0 out of 5 stars Cheeky French Indie rap leaves you smiling, February 14, 2005

This review is from: Batards Sensibles (Audio CD)
Excellent and enjoyable, channelling Nellie and the Beastie Boys in equal measures. You've never had so much fun listening to French people shouting.

2.0 out of 5 stars On Big Dada Label..?! It must be a joke!, July 22, 2005
This review is from: Batards Sensibles (Audio CD)
First of all, let's talk about me. I'm French and I speak french and english. I love underground hip-hop and Big Dada or Ninja Tune stuff.I am diggin' in the archives of hip hop everyday to discover some new marvellous artists. But, let me tell you that this French group is REALLY overrated. Indeed, when I bought "Batards Sensibles", I thought it could be an enjoyable stuff because it was on Big dada. What a mistake! I'me French so I understand all the lyrics. You think it's an intelligent hip-hop here? not at all. It's not really far from the gangsta crap. Yeah, those guys keep talkin' about dirty sex, bitches and other things like dat without smoothness( Girlfriend, Sang Sur Le Dancefloor..). I don't know why but everybody says that they are GREAT! and during this time they are spitin' on 50cent and other guys with a negative message. why? because I think a lot of people think that TTC are on Big Dada! so..they must be GREAT! Or because people don't understand what TTC are talkin' about, or just because they think TTC are just jokin'...Yes, okay, TTC want to change the world of hip-hop with a huge dose of humor, but sorry, TTC don't make me laugh..event not smile.Giant Panda or Starving Artists Crew make me smile..but TTC make me sleep.Let's talk about the production...what cheesy beats here! Really boring...and overmore, the flow of the MCs are irritating. "Ceci n'est pas un disque" was better. The production was okay, and the lyrics were more "intelligent", more "decent", and perhaps more "philosophical".
Batards sensibles is a waste of time and money. Don't forget that hip-hop can be different, but different Hip Hop not means obligatorily GOOD Hip Hop. Batards Sensible is the perfect example of the sometimes overrated underground scene.

If you want to buy a Good underground hip-hop CD from french artists with a decent message, buy "La Cédille".
