Product Description

Bye, bye dreaded bulb aspirators - we found one that really works! Unlike frustrating bulbs, our battery-operated aspirator clears nasal passages fully, quickly, and absolutely painlessly. (You barely touch it to baby's nostrils, and before he can squirm, you're done!) It even plays songs to distract baby. Includes see-thru collection cup and two soft tips; Replacement Tips sold separately. Requires 2 "AA" batteries (sold separately). For newborns and up. Gentle, safe, and easy to use Battery operated, so it literally works in seconds Allows you to control the degree of suction for baby's comfort Includes two soft, flexible silicone tips to accommodate different nostril shapes or types of congestion. (Use the long tip for loose, liquid mucus; use the short tip for more solid discharges.) Comes apart easily for cleaning. Components are dishwasher safe, except for the electronic base

From the Manufacturer

NasalClear will safely clear your baby's stuffy Nose and help her breathe more freely. The NasalClear aspirator provides you with suction that is stronger than that of a traditional manual aspirator, yet gentle enough to use safely and comfortably on your newborn.

It has nice music you can play to help distract them.

A quick spray or dripping of something like "Little Noses" or "Ocean" saline nasal spray will do the job of loosening up mucus nicely and quickly.
Penny Matzelle
I was very hopeful this product would be the answer to her congestion.

After using this for about 2 months on our now 6-month old, we are glad that we have this available to us, but the good old hospital bulb aspirator does a better job most of the time. This is because the bulb creates a short, high-velocity suction that causes the rush of air to pull along whatever is "down there" (or is it "up there"?), whereas the battery-operated unit has a constant, low-speed suction that only sucks in what the tip actually contacts.

There is at least one situation where this is an advantage - it worked much better than the bulb when she had a very runny nose due to a cold. In this case, the constant suction really kept pulling out more mucus, whereas the bulb could only suck a little each time.

So overall, we are happy to have another option, but it isn't usually the best tool for the job.

Some of the reviewers are saying that the suction is not strong enough for thick mucus. This is not mucus you should be trying "suck" from your infant's head regardless, until you've loosened it up. A quick spray or dripping of something like "Little Noses" or "Ocean" saline nasal spray will do the job of loosening up mucus nicely and quickly. Apply a few drops into each nasal passage with baby lying down, let it work for a minute or two, and then suck away using the wide tip rather than the long thin tip. The wide tip forms a better seal over baby's nose and is not as invasive as the longer thinner one. This is a great product for sure!! Soooo much better than the bulbs of old. Quicker to use, so less torture for your baby and when used properly, it gets out so much more mucus than a manual bulb.

This absolutely a great product. We've tried to stay on the "cheap" side by using the bulb every time our son gets sick. And every time I wonder why I didn't get this product as he screams and kicks when we try to use the bulb on him -- It's slow, not as effective and he hates it. Finally I broke down and bought BébéSounds Nasal Clear. Oh boy, what a difference this product has made in just the 1st day of use. It got SO MUCH out in a fraction of the time compared to the bulb!

At first I thought the music feature was such a waste of battery and a superfluous feature. But NOOOOOO... our 2-year-old would only let me suction his nose if the music was playing. We've even made a pact where I'd like him press the music button if he lets me do the suction for the duration of the music... Cool!

I am not sure why the other reviewer had a hard time getting anything out of his/her infant. But do keep in mind that for best results, the other nasal cavity plus the mouth would have to be temporarily closed for optimal effect. Just imagine how we blow our nose -- it's just not practical if you try to blow your nose while you're still breathing through your mouth! We taught our son to say "mmmmm" while we quickly apply the BébéSounds Nasal Clear on him and repeat it until we thought we got as much as we could.

If you are still sitting on the sidelines waiting to get this, don't wait -- get it. It will save you time and hassle. And it will also make your infant/toddler happier without having to go through the ineffectiveness of the bulb...

I've got to wonder about the person who came up with this little gadget. A musical snot sucker. Genius!

We all know that the blue bulb syringe is a horrible torture for little noses. This battery operated nasal aspirator is a tender answer to infants' prayers. It gently sucks out mucus with the accompaniment of a snippet of music. My daughter is so distracted by the music that she forgets to cry.

My only quibble is that I wish the suction were a little stronger. That is the only thing that moved this rating from 5 to 4 stars. Yet when you compare the product to the bulb syringe, this is a 5 star product all the way. I'm recommending it to all my friends.

works great. the price is well worth it. it took a couple times but all of a sudden, the stuff started coming out from deep in my babys nose. i wasnt aware she had that much inside until it started coming out like that!!!!! im very happy i purchased it, because the bulb from the hospital is very hard to get to work.

I was really excited about this product because having to extract stuff from my infants nose can be a terrible experience for both of us. It promised to clear the nasal passage so quick it was as if it was done before you even touched the baby's nose. The mucous comes out ok, but then it never makes it to the collection cup. It gets stuck in the passageway to the cup and then clogs and has to be cleaned - which is disgusting. I use it sometimes but I still have to use the regular old aspirator as well.

I was looking to replace this item that my 2 year-old recently ran over with his scooter and I saw all the negative reviews. As a nurse (to newborns) I find the bulb (although cheap)requires a bit of skill when you get past a certain age and the nares get too large to safely insert the tip of the bulb without hurting the inside of the little ones' nose. It is also difficult to keep clean. As for not having enough suction (as some reviews mentioned) to get any mucous out, the problem may be that there IS NO mucous (or very little) and the congestion is caused by inflammation and narrowing and swelling of the air passages and not mucous accumulation. I have been using this product with great success with my oldest (now 5) and my little one (2) who actually uses it on himself, although he can already blow his nose. It works like magic on "runny" noses, or any notable mucous that is observed passing from the nose, (with some saline drops help liquefy the secretions). As I mentioned, I am a repeat customer and only because I suspect the aspirator wasn't designed to withstand being run over by a 2 year-old on a scooter.
