I just received this today and was anxious to put it to use... opened the box and was surprised... where were the stainless steel blades mentioned in the description?? It was entirely made of plastic, blades - yep plastic. I nearly packaged it back up immediately -- but then since it was here, I decided to see if it worked. So I pulled out a potato and started to grate it... and yes. It works. It works quite well. I don't know if the plastic blades will hold up over time - I'm very interested in knowing if the other reviews on here were also plastic blades or is this a new "improvement."

My experience with this product goes back 15 years, when I first purchased it. Because it grates a trifle larger and isnt metal, I was impressed with it's look.
It got better as Hash Browns were better then the restaurants, and my hands werent bleeding from a grater.
That was the original Borner, that has been improved to a larger size, with a convenient food holder.
Quality and price excellent with the customers needs addressed very well !

I did have a older version of the same product , lost in a moving , and the material (plastic) was a lot stronger but i still like the quality of the blade and all the help it could give me in the Cuisine.

This grater and other items from Borner have served at my parent's home for over 15 years now. The quality, elegance and safety of their solution makes it for extremely well rounded product.

I highly recommend it along with their slicer and other graters.

The vegetable/fruit safety holder (available separately or in a kit with slicer) works with all graters and it's essential to safe operating.

I am an amateur cook - I like creating food and good tools are essential in my kitchen. Börner is definitively a quality product.

This is the best grater I have ever used for making hash browns. I have been using this grater for twenty years and when it broke, I never found another grater to take it's place. Luckily, I tracked this one down on Amazon.com. The grate is ideal for hash browns and they cook perfectly. Highly recommended.

Arrived broken & missing parts.

Returned for refund.

Note that it would have been remarkably shoddy, even if it was complete.
