The safety grip shown in the illustration does NOT come with the shredder and must be purchased separately. Nor is there any other finger grip. The shredder does NOT have non-slip feet. I was not happy about these discrepancies. It does cut a nice julienne. I kept it, but it is dangerous to use without some sort of hand grip. So I ended up paying an extra $7 for the hand grip. Not happy, not pleased with this brand, and will replace this product as soon as Kuhn Rikon comes out with something comparable.
My fault because I really didn't read the reviews or product description well enough.
But I returned it for other reasons. There was no gift box, finger hold, or non-slip feet on the product, as was stated in the item description.
Plus, the item is manufactured out of very thin flexible plastic, and to me, that makes the item less safe to use. This item is worth less than a third of the price that I paid for it, even though it was made in Germany, which use to mean quality.
In 2010 I bought the Borner Twin Grater and the Börner Hash Brown/Cheese Grater. The latter was advertised to have metal shredding teeth; it does not. Both are all plastic construction. The Twin Shredder was totally worthless, and the Hash Brown Grater is nearly useless. It doesn't make nice thin strands for hash browns; it makes mushy little chips, whatever you are trying to grate on it. Hated both items.
Then I wrote to the company to make sure this one really DOES have metal teeth. Being assured that it does, I bought it and I could not be happier. It makes beautiful long strands. It grates even potatoes that have started to go soft - just put them at an angle so they don't flop around while you're grating.
It's perfect for stir fry and Asian style salads that require long thin strands of veggies.
DO buy the Borner Food Safety Holder, available separately, if you don't already have one. Better yet go whole hog and get the Swissmar Borner V-1001 V-Slicer Plus Mandoline 6 Piece Set - about $27 right now (the handle by itself is $8 plus $6 shipping). I love the Mandoline as well, and actually bought that first. You can get the safety holder from Simply Good Stuff (dot com, online) for around $8 or $9 counting shipping.
Stay away from any all-plastic Borner product. You'll be happy as long as you get the Borner slicers and shredders that have the metal blade.

This slicer is really great. Very easy to use and very sharp (would be helpful to have something to hold the vegetable in while using the slicer, not to cut fingers).Published on January 22, 2014 by Lidiya P.
