Product does not include everything promised or pictured,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Börner Thin Julienne Vegetable Slicer (Kitchen)
The product description states: "Features finger grips and non-skid feet."
The safety grip shown in the illustration does NOT come with the shredder and must be purchased separately. Nor is there any other finger grip. The shredder does NOT have non-slip feet. I was not happy about these discrepancies. It does cut a nice julienne. I kept it, but it is dangerous to use without some sort of hand grip. So I ended up paying an extra $7 for the hand grip. Not happy, not pleased with this brand, and will replace this product as soon as Kuhn Rikon comes out with something comparable.

Picture is deceptive!,
This review is from: Börner Thin Julienne Vegetable Slicer (Kitchen)
The picture shown describing the item is deceptive. I was under the impression that the holder was included in the price but when I recieved the package, NO HOLDER. The slicer is o.k. but oh so difficult to use if you don't have the holder. I would not recommend purchasing this product without the holder...you could lose control and slice you fingers instead.

Disappointed,

The shredder is basically a series of cool sharp-shredding blades imbedded in a very major piece of plastic, NOT worth the pricetag in my opinion. I did buy the safety holder and used it once. I haven't used it since, now I simply pay attention to when I am nearing the end of a veggie's stem, common sense. My friend, however, cut her finger while shredding a carrot for me as a first time user. I've forbidden her to use it again and warn others to not use this product unless you are 40 or over. Meanwhile, it cuts a mean carrot, but gets the shreddings on just about everything in a 12-inch radius, including the counter, on the toaster oven, and on the wall. It's a pain to clean, requiring additional safety awareness, but in the end has made shredding veggies an event not to be missed. (This review is meant to be slightly funny so you can smile now. It's OK!)

I received this yesterday and returned it today. Stupid me thought that the hand holder was included for the price, but it is not, and is stated so on the box it came in.
My fault because I really didn't read the reviews or product description well enough. But I returned it for other reasons. There was no gift box, finger hold, or non-slip feet on the product, as was stated in the item description. Plus, the item is manufactured out of very thin flexible plastic, and to me, that makes the item less safe to use. This item is worth less than a third of the price that I paid for it, even though it was made in Germany, which use to mean quality.

It does the exact job I needed it for. However, it doesn't include Borner Food Safety Holder. So I will buy it separately. Until the it should be used with a lot of caution, because it is easy to cut yourself.

This is my second one!!,

This is my second one. I got my first one 20 years ago with the whole set of V-Slicers as a christmas gift. My V-slicers are still working. I used this shredder a lot and went out last year. I was looking for this in every kitchen stores that come across with no luck. Finally, I got the information from Swissmar. I love this because it is so sharp and easy to store. It is does not take so much storage space. Even though there are so many other shredders, they are not as sharp or easy to store, sometime they rusted. I think I can go on for 20 more years with this one.

I purchased this Börner Thin Julienne Vegetable Slicer (white) few months ago, and have used it only ONCE so far, because it is just not a good or safe product! Like some other reviewers, I too have owned and still do, an original (mine is orange color) Borner Thin Julienne for almost 25 years now and I simply treasure it, alas, it is getting dull. My old one does have non-slide feet, is made out of thicker / harder / sturdier plastic, which really does make a difference when your grating (julienne) something.
Here is why I gave it only 1 star (too late to return and give 0 star review) 1. This new Slicer is just flimsy. 2. I find it much more dangerous than my old one, because it actually bends, does NOT give you any support / stability, while in use, so it's much easier to grate / shred your fingers... 3. I do have a "guard" tool from previous purchases, but I don't find it useful at all for this particular Julienne slicer I would return it if I could. I am surprised that Borner allowed such a product to be made. I also have other things made by / for them from long ago, and the difference in quality is night and day with this thing. P.S. I also purchased Borner Twin Grater, and luckily tried it right away (in time to return); another terrible, flimsy, useless product by Borner I hope another quality company realizes there is a need for a great Julienne Slicer and makes a good one

We like this cheap and real thin shredder, we tried several other brands, no one is better than it. Only one vegetable did not work well as we tried, ginger with more fibers. Great buy!

WOW! Even without holder this shredder is doing BEST JOB EVER! It is as sharp as razor! I needed a tool for Korean Carrot Salad and this tool is the one! Salad looks fantastic and very appetizing! Thank you, Börner!
