The perfect introduction and overview of this remarkable aircraft,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: B-24 Liberator - Aircraft Specials series (6125) (Paperback)
As a staple of the United States air force during World War II, the B-24 Liberator was either loved or hated, there was no in between for the men who flew them. But the giant four engine bomber, in many different models, was undeniably a key reason why the Allies won over the Axis powers. Enhanced with a wealth of both historic black and white photography, and superb full color illustrations, Bill Holder's informative text in B-24 Liberator from Squadron/Signal Publications offers the perfect introduction and overview of this remarkable aircraft and is highly recommended, informative reading for World War II military buffs in general, and Military Aviation History enthusiasts in particular.

Colorful Photo-History of B-24 Liberator!,

This review is from: B-24 Liberator - Aircraft Specials series (6125) (Paperback)
While Consolidated's slab-sided B-24 was no thing of beauty, it flew its share of tough missions in all theaters of war, helping win the final victory. Bill Holder pays tribute to the Liberator in this Squadron/Signal volume which features dozens of black & white and color photos along with eight pages of color profiles by Don Greer, Darren Glenn and David Gebhardt.
The illustrations are really the meat of the book, Holder describing the B-24's technical development and participation in worldwide combat in fairly brief summaries covering the 6th AF, 8th AF, 11th AF, etc. While some of the photos have been seen before, Holder uncovered some new and interesting material from the Air Force Museum at Wright-Pat. And the color profiles by Greer & Co. are nicely done, as always. If you are looking for an introduction to the B-24 Liberator, look no further.

I was disappointed by some editing and captioning errors. The misidentification of target marking rocket smoke trail as a B-24 going down. Those dragged down an otherwise wonderful book.
