More About the Author

Johnny Hart (1931-2007) was born and raised in Endicott, New York. Johnny created the comic strips, "B.C." and the "Wizard of Id". Launched in 1958, B.C. was written and drawn by Johnny. With the release of the Wizard of Id in 1964, drawn by cartoonist Brant Parker, Hart became one of only four cartoonists to have two comic strips appearing in over 1000 papers each. Johnny won numerous awards for his work, including the National Cartoonist Society's highest honor, the Reuben award, for B.C. in 1968 and the Wizard of Id in 1984.

This review is from: B.C. Rides Again (Paperback)
B.C. was thirty years of age in 1988 when Johnny Hart released this collection of almost a full year of comics. The book states that this strip was being enjoyed by over 100 million readers worldwide and that's a big deal! Over 1,100 newspapers were running this great comic strip. Peanuts and Garfield were reaching more readers worldwide but for pure hipness and pose, B.C. was the best and then there was the rest.

With: Thor, The Fat Broad, Peter, John The Turtle, Grog, The Skinny Chick, Wiley, The Fish, The Snake, The Ants, The Turkeys, Dinosaurs galore and B.C. himself, it is quite a cool cast of characters that you will find herein. These guys and gals seem more modern than stone agers. The gags are nonstop and the laughs are big.

If you are aware of this great comic, grab up a copy of this fine book right now. And if you are new to the antics of these Prehistoric Pranksters, this is the place to jump in and enjoy the fun. The comic is never short of excellent and always funny.
Four & 1/2 Stars!
