3.0 out of 5 stars B Collision
Just finished listening to this collection and I'm going to play it again.
This one has a little bit different sound than what I've learned to expect from the David Crowder Band. I have a soft spot for good banjo music and this was no disappointment. This collection is a bit small from what they normally put together but very good nonetheless.

5.0 out of 5 stars If You Liked "Sunsets & Sushi"....You'll Enjoy This Album, June 27, 2006
This review is from: B Collision (Audio CD)
David Crowder*Band is beginning to fall into a routine. The last two major albums ("Illuminate" and "A Collision or (3+4=7)") have been released, followed by a "mix" CD and a book. (Yes, David Crowder releases "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven But Nobody Wants To Die: Or (The Eschatology of Bluegrass)" on September 9th this year.)

So, "B Collison or (B is for Banjo), or (B Side), or (Bill), or Perhaps More Accurately (...The Eschatology of Bluegrass)" is the "mix" CD for "A Collision or (3+4=7)." This CD gives a variety of versions of the hits in their major album. This CD is more of an acoustic/live CD unlike "Sunsets & Sushi" having a more electronic feel.

Though this CD lacks for new material (besides the extended versions of "Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven" and "I Can Hear The Angels Singing (...andeverandeverand...)", fans will not be too depressed with it. The tracks on the CD, though they are not electronic, have a similar "feel" when you listen to it, reminding you that you are listening to the genious of the David Crowder*Band.

This is a must have if you enjoyed "Sunsets & Sushi" and "A Collision or (3+4=7)"!

5.0 out of 5 stars David Crowder Band+Frank Peretti(Banjo, I mean)=One Great CD, July 21, 2006

No, Frank Peretti does not proform on the cd, I said that because he does play the Banjo. Which is what Collision B means Collision Banjo. This cd is one of a kind. The DC*B is always just trying to get to the root of worship and doesn't care how they do it, just so they are glorify God. With, this cd they decided to use the Banjo to do just that.

This cd take songs from Collision A and re-amps them, with this great collection of live and studio song there is no way that you will be disappointed. If you enjoy Bluegrass or your just sick of the same old same all then collide into Collision B. If your going to get this cd I suggest getting Collision A as well to hear the original song in it's original version. Don't take my word for it hear it for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heavy, but Beautiful., September 14, 2006

This is an awsome extension to their album A Collision. I like bluegrass, or hoedown music and that is what most of this is. Some songs have a heavy feel to it, though. I believe this is so because it says in their "album booklet" that their pastor died. They already created an album about death, A Collision, but they didnt expect this. So they remixed or "Acoustic-ted" some songs. I like this album, and Im sure if you like David Crowder at all, you will like it too. P.S. I love the banjo.

5.0 out of 5 stars B is for Bluegrass..., July 24, 2006

With A Collision being one David Crowder Band's most innovative and well-put-together albums, one might think that B Collison - A Collision with a Bluegrass twist - would be unnecessary. But that is most definitely not the case. In folk remixings of songs from their most recent LP, "A Beautiful Collision" and "Wholly Yours", DCB applies some of the roots of early worship and praise music to their recent songs.

A cover of Loretta Lynn's "Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven But Nobody Wants to Die" is haunting and appropriate for the EP, as Crowder has mentioned that the songs are a response to the death of a friend. The band reworks an old blugrass hymn, "I Can Hear the Angels Singing" effectively and the song serves as a transition to the two live tracks included on the album, "Be Lifted" and another bluegrass hymn, "I Saw the Light." Both were performed with two other bands, Robbie Seay Band, and Shane & Shane. You'll be tapping your foot to the "boom-chuck" rhythm, just as Crowder warns.

I thoroughly recommend this album, both as a companion to the brilliant "A Collision" and on it's own.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of a Kind!!!!, July 22, 2006

The David Crowder Band is a very unique band. They are definately one of a kind. I have to say that "B Collision" is their greatest album yet! It has more of a country or bluegrass beat to it because they mainly use the banjo. You might not like bluegrass music at all, but you'll love it in this album. The David Crowder Band makes it sound really cool. Just give it a listen. If you buy this album, I suggest buying "A Collision" also. Whenever it plays, it makes my friends and I want to get up and dance. "B Collision" is a must-have CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but expected from DC*B., June 28, 2006

When I first heard about this album, I hoped it would be better than their last experiment, Sunsets & Sushi. Don't get me wrong, it was okay, but I could have been just as well of without it. The book, however, was awesome. But anyways, back to B Collision.

I agree with an earlier reviewer in that this should not be bought unless you are a big DC*B fan. If you are buying a first album from them, don't get this!! That be said, this album was really cool to listen to. Being a fan of acoustic versions of music, I really liked what they did with Wholly Yours and A Beautiful Collision. I bought the EP through iTunes, so I also got the acoustic version of Do Not Move, which was really intersting, since on the album A Collision, it was one of the most electronic in style. The live songs were a hoot to listen to and I started dancing with them on the second listen through. The two new songs were also very well done and a nice addition to the EP.

This leaves me looking forward to whenever their new album comes out, which probably won't be for a while. His new book, however, comes out in Sept., so that is something to look forward to. Again, buy this if you are a big DC*B fan, but not of it is your first exposure to his style of music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy This If You're New To DCB, Go Buy "A Collision" or "Illuminate", June 28, 2006
By
Luke Lengl (Center, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: B Collision (Audio CD)
This album complements its previously released counterpart, "A Collision or (3 + 4 = 7)", very well. All the songs have a bluegrass feel to them, while in the background you can still hear the electronic stuff usually found in David Crowder Band's music. I wouldn't exactly call it bluegrass or electronic. It's just different. Like DCB's last EP, "Sunsets & Sushi", this is definitely an experimental album and mainly for fans of DCB. This is a great album. Very different, unique music. (What else would you expect from Mr. Crowder and his fellow bandmates?)

If you don't own any of the band's albums, I do not recommend this one. Go buy "A Collision" or "Illuminate". They are a better representation of the band.

But if you are a long time fan or jumped on the bandwagon when "A Collision" came out, "B Collision or (B is for Banjo), or (B sides), or (Bill), or Perhaps More Accurately (...The Eschatology of Bluegrass)" is definitely a great addition to your music collection.
