I was actually among the first to purchase these cordless jump ropes when they became available on Amazon around the end of 2011. I workout a lot, and I thought these cordless, digital ropes were a wonderful idea! No slapping the ceiling or your surroundings with a rope, no worry of accidentally jumping on the rope and ruining your timing, etc. etc. Well, I used them every day for about three weeks, but then they stopped counting the jumps and therefore didn't work at all. I tried every combination of fixes to get them back up and working, and alas, they went in the trash after less than a month of use. So, I would strongly suggest investing your money in a good heart rate monitor that tracks calories burned while working out, and jumping to some steady paced music that will help you keep your timing. Please keep in mind, lots of people review after their first use, but this review comes from someone who used them for a month then wrote her review following their seriously premature break. Good luck in your search for the right exercise tool.

well this is NOT a replacment for the regular jump rope ...
just wanted to start off with this statment

Product:
well in short this is the jump rope with out the rop, with two balls that simulate the rope, with calorie counter , turns counter and time.

now some would ask, whats the point?! or this is a silly product

well no actually not, if you know for what to use it,

I have been jumping rope for more than 17 years now, its basically a basic in my daily workout routine,

now the problem is that my work makes me travel alot and be in hotel rooms with not enough space,

thats where it come in,

its perfect when wanting to workout in a tight space but then again , i would never get it as a replacement for the regular jump rope

also I dont think it would help alot if your trying to learn jumping rope, my idea of learning is trial and error especially in jump rope till you get it right, you will never learn if there isnt a rope that will wack you if u dont jump right

now to the pros and cons
Pros:
works in tight spaces
calorie counter (though it will be not accurate , u need a heart monitor for that)
counts jumps
timer

Cons:
the weights of the balls does not simulate an accurate rope, i think they needed to make it a bit heavier,
also it is not and will never be a replacement for the good old jump rope
it does not work well for learning, or atleast i think so

final though:

if you are a fanatic jump rope freak and have a problem with space, then this is for you,

if you have enough space i would def recommend you getting the real thing,

if you are learning also i would recommend you get the real thing,

but knowing what you are buying it for I would give it a 3.5 stars, one star and half removed due that it doesnt siumulate the real thing quite accurately

This cordless jumping is just what I needed to add variety to my indoor workout routine. I love the fact that it is cordless and that it counts my jumps and calories. The reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because you have to reset your weight and time everytime you use it. However, if you are not looking to use it to count the calories you burn from jumping rope it is a great supplement to your interval routine.

I'm not an exercise fanatic, but I was looking to add some aerobic, calorie-burning activity to the normal sit-ups and weights I can pull off in my living room. I have always heard jumping rope was one of the best ways to burn calories in a short time, but I live in an apartment and swinging a rope around was never an option. So I was pretty excited to see this "Digital Cordless Jumping Rope." I could jump all the rope I wanted without worrying about smashing a light fixture or knocking something off the walls.

I've had this and been using it for a couple of months now, and I love it. It isn't like a real jump rope--no surprises there--the rhythm of the swinging balls is different, and unless you are ambidextrous it is can be hard to coordinate the left and right hands. But I have gotten used to the swing and learned how to get a solid workout. I use it twice a day, once in the morning and once when I get home from work. I have lost quite a few pounds since starting, and I am happy with the results.

Like many, I wish I didn't have to reprogram the digital monitor every time I use it, but oh well. It's a minor issue, and for the very affordable price I don't expect too much. And I don't know how accurate the calorie burner count is, but I still find it motivating to try and outdo my own calorie count every day.

Affordable and fun, this "Digital Cordless Jumping Rope" is a cool way to add some calorie-burning jump roping into an exercise routine limited by space.

This is a nice little gadget that let's me jump rope in my apartment without taking out the light fixtures. You can program in your weight and set the timer, and the timer starts when you start jumping and swinging the handles. When the timer goes off the readout shows how many rotations you did in that time and the number of calories you burned. (And yes, you could just sit on the couch and whirl them around if you want and the device will assume you're jumping. For some reason that's the first question people ask when they see it at my house.) I like using mine once an hour when I'm working at my desk all day.

If they ever do a 2.0 version, I would love to see a memory function so you don't have to reprogram your weight each time, plus an option of setting the alarm for calories burned or time exercised. Still, for the price this is a great deal.
