Bruce Makowsky is not a newcomer to the industry by any means. He ran his own handbag company and was president of a major corporation where he developed the company into a $200 million business along with the design inspiration of his wife Kathy (of Kathy Van Zeeland fame). B. Makowsky handbags are defined by a signature leather tassel in addition to chunky satin-finished hardware and signature paisley lining. Zippers and pockets create function without bulk. Colors include simple blacks, browns and ivory with pops of fresh colors such as red, denim, saffron and tangerine.

I love Makowsky bags. They're soft, rich, well made, beautiful, classic. Are they expensive? For my budget, yes. But that doesn't stop me from purchasing, especially when I can purchase them on Amazon. The highest price you see, often lined out, is the price you would pay everywhere else. Many are more than $100 cheaper than could be purchased elsewhere. I'm constantly trolling Amazon for the latest. Since I will only purchase bags with gold-toned hardware, Bruce saves me from myself by designing so many with silver-toned hardware.
This Canterbury is a medium-sized bag. The brandy color is luscious; the hardware unique. The straps squeak a bit (leather on metal), but it bothers me not a whit. This is the only Mak bag I have with that teensy little problem.
For the most part, Bruce's bags are large, and except for the smaller crossbodies, are unstructured. They slouch and hang well off the shoulder. If you're looking for a structered bag that will stand high when you set it down, most likely these are not the bags for you. But if you're looking for a bag that will last for years, and that every other woman will comment on, B. Makowsky is the go-to guy.

This purse was much bigger than i expected. But the leather is buttery soft like described and it is a beautiful color.
