a very pretty purse of great quality, May 4, 2010
I have this high quality purse in the port color which is sort of a pink with a purple tint. The color is very pretty. This is my second B. Makowsky handbag. I LOVE the fine quality of his purses--the leather is amazingly soft and the hardware is lovely. You DO have to baby these purses a little though, so the leather does not get stained. I am very careful where I set my purse down when I am using my B. Makowsky handbags.

Poor craftsmanship leads to very short lifespan, June 8, 2010
This review is from: B. MAKOWSKY Chicago Shoulder Bag (Apparel)
Very disappointed in the long-term quality of this bag. I have used this purse gently and already the leather is worn through on the ends of the shoulder strap. The leather has split and the inside (white) layers are showing on all the leather pieces that are attached to the rings that connect the strap to the body. Seam on lower side has also started unraveling. Very poor craftsmanship for this price. I paid a similar amount for a Perlina bag over 6 years ago and I'm still using that one. I'll never purchase a Makowsky bag again.

Just okay. Hoped for more., May 21, 2010
This purse is just okay, in my opinion. It's a bit large for me, who likes smaller bags, and it's so soft that it just collapses into a puddle when it's set down on a table, chair, or floor. That's probably not a problem for those who carry a full load in their bags. The pockets in the front are nice in that they are secure, but it isn't exactly seamless to use them. You have to open the clasp, open the flap, put something in, and line up the flap and put it back on, push the buckle-like device closed. The shoulder strap I got was kinked at the top, and it's not straightened out with use and probably never will. I am left-handed, and carrying the purse on my left shoulder, I believe the shoulder strap is then backwards in that it's curved on one side, flat on the other. It doesn't always stay on my shoulder.
The zipper closure on the top requires two hands because there's a little kink about 3 inches in from the end, and you have to pull the end tab to straighten it out while pulling the zipper fob shut to move past that point.
The cell phone pocket is on the back side of the purse, is quite small, and my Blackberry (with its case) doesn't easily fit into the slot. Plus, being on the back side of the purse, it's much easier to "butt dial" your phone while it's in the bag.
I got the bag in the color Lake, which is a very pretty color, and the quality is excellent. But as I said, overall, it's just okay.
