Just wanted to let everyone who isn't familiar with B.Toys that these toys are sturdy, well-made, and the ENTIRE LINE is BPA-free (and lead-free and phthalate-free). To help get rid of any "fumes" (which we haven't had any problems with and we own nearly all their toys, including the Bristle Blocks), just wash them in a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution, no rinse needed; spin dry in a salad spinner and then let air dry completely. Don't worry - you don't smell the vinegar once the item is dry. This solution also works for clothes with fumes, too - add a cup of vinegar to the wash cycle and the smell will go away.

Pop bead are wonderful for fine motor skills and these pop beads are artfully crafted in luscious shades. I especially love the beads that look like raspberries and sea urchin shells. Since they are pop-beads, they can be used over and over again to make numerous creations. There is a slight plastic odor (obviously from off-gassing), so I recommend leaving them in an open container until they air out.

When I saw these (in person) I knew I HAD to have them! They are waaaay cooler than the plain circular pop-beads of my childhood! Truth be told, I bought them for myself (I'm 28) but then figured I should probably share them with my daughter, who is 4. I'm not sure which one of us like them more! And then after seeing how fun they are, my mom bought some too. AWESOME toy- every family with a little girl (or a little girl at heart) needs these!

This has given my 4 year old hours of fun. It's nice to have a "craft" item that can be repeatedly changed. I saw the "smell" issue on the two negative reviews. If I put my nose right up to the container and try really hard, I can smell something. Most new toys have some sort of smell. There is NO smell to me unless I put my face right up to the container. I understand that some people are super-sensitive to smells.....and certain smells I am sensitive to as well....this is just not offensive/overwhelming -and- I am extremely happy with the product.

We got (at Target store for $15) this beads for my daughter's 5th bday and she loves them! Her 7 yo sister too... And mama and daddy as well. They seem to be very durable. The designs and colors are very cool and for the younger one there is also oportunity on creating patterns and practice sorting. We had fun counting by 10's with my older child. It encourages imagination in children and adults. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

I was so excited when my 5-year-old received this as a birthday gift... but then we opened the container, and was appalled by the odor that came out. I don't know what these beads are made of, but they smell horrible. Like sewage. Also, some of the beads are very hard to pop together, even for me, so my 5-year-old doesn't have a chance. What a disappointment. Now I have to figure out how to get rid of them without my little girl being devastated. (She doesn't seem to mind the smell, but honestly, it's really overpowering. How could this have made it to the store shelves like this!??? It smells totally toxic and horrible.)

My 5 year old daughter loved the beads, but they smell strongly of chemicals. We washed them, let them air dry in the sun, and they still smell awful, so this toy is going back. It is not safe.

My daughter received these for her birthday from her grandma. These beads smell horrific. I want to throw these in the trash fast! Who wants chemicals wrapped around their child's neck, wrists, and fingers. Not to mention they touch the beads repeatedly to build the toxic jewelry!

This bead set is great! All three of my kids (ages 2, 3 and 6) have a great time with them. They create patterns with shapes and/or color, the boys pretend to make machines that do this or that, and I have actually worn a bracelet made from them in public and gotten compliments on it. The kids sort them, put them together, learn to share, talk about color difference (between dark orange, light orange and yellow, for example), and plenty of other educational things. All while having a blast. I plan on buying this same set for my nieces for Christmas because we love it so much.
