Book Description

NO BS July 7, 2004

Succeed on Business Wisdom, Not Business Banks!

Dan Kennedy has been called the "Professor of Harsh Reality" because he's provocative, irreverent, sarcastic, and tells it like it is in a humorous, but chillingly serious fashion that cuts to the core of the issues in a way no other business author does. You want sugar-coated cliches that go down easy? Seek them elsewhere - this book isn't for the faint heart. Kennedy steers you along the bumpy road to growing a business, showing you potholes along the way.

Expose yourself to Dan's "25 Eternal Business Truths" and prepare for a lot of chin-rubbing insight. Get Dan Kennedy's take on your sales, cash flow, payroll, productivity, and on getting out of trouble wherever it arises. It's the kind of streetwise wisdom his readers (and high-paying consulting clients) swear by - all the way to the bank.

Who is Dan Kennedy?

Dan's business adventures have included ownership of six businesses. He appeared for nine consecutive years on THE #1 seminar tour in America sharing the platform with former U.S. President Reagan, Ford, and Bush, General Colin Powell, and business leaders such as Debbi Fields.

2.0 out of 5 stars An ironic title, perhaps?, September 19, 2004
This review is from: No B.S. Business Success (Paperback)
What do you want to learn about business? Finance? Not here. Marketing & sales? Not here. Niche selection and competitive strategies? Not here. Believing in yourself? Tony Robbins does it better. Management techniques and strategies? Nope.

What does that leave? Anecdotes about people Kennedy has worked with/for.

This is the least of Kennedy's books. If reading it is in your future, use the local library. (I did, thank heavens.)

1.0 out of 5 stars Not a great book at all, February 15, 2005
This review is from: No B.S. Business Success (Paperback)
The litmus test for any book on selling is, will it help me make my numbers? Any book that doesn't do that doesn't deserve to be on the shelf in my book. Boy, was I sucked in by this one.

I read this book based upon the glowing reviews it received. All I can say it that they must be friends of the author or paid reviews because this book is one of the least effective books on selling I've ever read.

If you want to base your career on things like "Create good guilt" (wow, nothing like a little manipulation, huh?), or "Create Differentiation" (now, there's a brand new concept) (both of these are from page 87 which I pulled at random).

Save your money. If you want to CLOSE BUSINESS then get Strategic Selling or Conceptual Selling, both classics that will help you make your numbers.

Good selling,

Bob

5.0 out of 5 stars Get This One Lesson From Dan's Book, October 6, 2004
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: No B.S. Business Success (Paperback)
If you are committed to achieving a measure of success as you define it, you are going to have periods where your core values are tested to the limit. Dan emphasizes this point with his own personal history and experiences of other people he has known. Dan's presentation should leave a lasting impression.

Once you let this lesson sink into you brain and you are OK with it, the book then helps you minimize the frequency of those challenges by telling you very clearly the principles of entrepreneurial success.

This is not a how to book. One paragraph in Dan's book can be the subject of an entire book or course. If you have the experience to know what to do, then this is a great roadmap and you should make this book an appendage. If you don't have the experience, then you will need to do some additional research (resources readily available everywhere) to develop precise action steps for your business.

While Dan touches on being a manager and much of Dan's advice is applicable to traditionally organized companies, the material is directed toward the entrepreneur. If you are operating your own company, you will need more guidance on establishing a system for maximizing cash profits. Often companies use consultants for that purpose.

You either love this man's material or hate it. Some people are not able to get past his style. Those who enjoy Dan's view of business success and life, benefit greatly from his insight. My clients and select others will receive this book as a gift this holiday season. I loved the book. I have it on my desk with parts underlined, annotated and I am developing separate action steps for areas of my business I need to strengthen. Buy the book and then use the book.
