You get what you pay for,

I bought this because the cost was lower than the other rakes. I was told raking your matted carpet will really help to bring it back.
So I figured for the cost I would try it. Its very flimsy and is already breaking where it is stressed on both sides of the place where the pole inserts, only after minutes of use. This should be labeled a one-time use only, but no for doing whole carpets as its not going to last. At least I didn't spend very much (under $10). SO I take it as a lesson learned. Once it breaks and I cant use it with a pole I may use it by hand. The bristles are not as stiff as I expected and it does a so-so job bringing the carpet back up. There are no instructions so I have been using it in a pulling motion, maybe I am using it wrong?

Revised Product,

After just one use a fine crack line appeared below where the pole is inserted. Second use, the crack turned into a complete break. The plastic where the pole joins is too thin and not durable. Lucky for me, my husband was able to re-attach the rake head by adding a liquid plastic compound and a long screw for added support. Now it is usable and I love the result after raking my carpet. Be aware that it will break after a couple of uses, but it can be fixed. It's just a shame that the manufacture of this product doesn't upgrade it the same way my husband did.

I thought I loved this rake at first, but after just a few uses it created a large crack across the plastic part that attaches to a handle. Now is just flops around and it useless. If they had made the main part out of metal instead of plastic it would have been a great product. I would not suggest you waste your money on this product.

A must for long-hairs, will help save your vaccuum,

After reading the reviews which seemed to be kind of split, I went ahead and purchased the rake. Unlike others who have must have literacy problems, I knew that a handle did NOT come with the rake head, so we installed one shortly after receiving the item and set to work. The main problem for us is we both have long hair that builds up fast on the carpet, and abhor taking apart the vacuum room by room to clean out the roller and cut hairs out. Now we simply rake the carpet beforehand, since others have mentioned it breaking easily we just use a light hand (that's all it takes anyway, you really just lightly scrape the surface). It really does pull up a LOT of hair, both human and dog, for us, massive hairballs and it really saves the vacuum... Yay!!!

Hard to find carpet groomers/rakes, but this thing is really made cheap. you will have to renforce it preety well. I used it and within the first few passes it craked and broke. I barley used any force and it broke. If you were to use it after steam cleaning your carpets it might work ok. I guess it goes without saying....cheap...most likley is junk.

This carpet rake is a piece of junk. The plastic cracked into from the screw hole down to the body of the rake. That happened on the first use. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PRODUCT.

Works great! I was about to replace my carpet because it was so matted down. After I raked my carpet it looked fine again. Rake and vacuum. Disappointed that the teeth were plastic and not rubber, but it works.

I love the carpet rake, but it should have been in the details that it does not come with the handle. I had to go to Lowes and buy a wooden handle from the hardware dept.

Can't find a handle anywhere that fits,

I am very excited to try my carpet rake because my carpet is matted down in spots where traffic is heaviest in the house.
I knew when I bought the rake there was no handle with it (stupid, but it was the only one I could find). I have since been to 3 home improvement and hardware stores and have not been able to find a 7/8" pole with a tapered end that will fit it. I have found plenty of poles with threaded ends (metal and wood) and larger tapered end poles (1 1/8") but none so far that will fit. So I bought a 7/8" dowel and have asked my husband to plane it down to fit. So a lot of work for something that should have come with a handle in the first place.

This "carpet rake" is just a cheap small piece of plastic with no handle.
In fact the handle you will have to find for it needs to have a non-typical end that you will have to custom shape. I expected something a lot larger and more robust. And since it doesn't have a handle, I would expect it to be accepting of a standard shape or even screw-in handle. |
