Product Description

Mechanic In A Bottle Gas Treatment - Restore old fuel by separating the hydrocarbon chains that have bonded together since the fuel has deteriorated. An octane booster is added to replace the lost octane in the decayed fuel. Remove carbon deposits from combustion chamber components including the combustion chamber itself as well as piston(s), rings, and valves. Dual lubricants that condition the rubber and plastic components also rejuvenate rubber gaskets and seals that may have been dried out from ethanol. After the lubricants are burned in the combustion chamber, a synthetic lubricant is left lubricating the entire upper combustion chamber such as piston rings and valves. This is a fuel additive, not a replacement for 2-cycle oil. Continue to add oil as recommended by the manufacturer on the engine. Mechanic In A Bottle is registered with the EPA and is recommended by B3C Fuel Solutions for use with nonroad gasoline engines. 4 oz. bottle. - Size: 4 oz, Formula: Octane Booster

Having been a large lawnmower sales and service dealer for over 37 years, I was skeptical of the product when I first heard about it. But since trying it myself and recommending it to many of my customers (We sell it in our store, now) I am very impressed in how this works. Most additives that I have evaluated fall way short of expectations, in fact most I have tried were outright scams. Not "Mechanic in a bottle". Many of our custmers that have units that do not run correctly due to restricted carburetors that have been gummed up by old gas sitting in them, have been able to use the "Mechanic in a Bottle" as directed and save a very costly carburetor cleaning and rebuilding. The stuff is really amazing. Keep in mind, though, that there will always be some carburetors that are too far gone to be corrected by this product and will still neeed to be rebuilt or replaced, but I would always recommend trying the "Mechanic in a bottle" FIRST. In addition, it is one of the ONLY products that seem to be a very good fuel stabilizer as well. Older versions of fuel stabilizers just plain DON'T WORK! The same company also makes a product called "Ethanol Shield" This is nearly the same product, but does not have the same cleaners and is mainly used to stabilize gas for storage. Both will do nearly the same jobs except the "Mechanic in a bottle" has the very special cleaners that are made to completely desove the varnish and restore the fuel to its usable state. I give this product a 5 Star rating.

Id like to first say ignore the last review, your init is running off the starting fluid and stopping once it burns off the fluid. Your carb is shot. Like the product says hard RUNNING motor fix. If your engine is sputtering this is the product to use. If your carb is clogged it may need multiple doses n still may not work but better then spending the money to a small engine repair place. Can be found at a few big box retailers as well. It's worth a shot for the cost of the product.

I own an 8 year old Honda lawn mower, and over the last couple of years I noticed that it was starting to run pretty rough. This lawn mower was maintained well with new spark plugs/oil/air filter every year. But, I didn't realize the problems with buying gallons of gas in early April and using it all the way until September.

Anyway, I was just going to let things stay as they were since repair shops wanted hundreds of dollars just to look at it, plus the hassle of having to load it into my car, but thought I would give this a try for the small price it cost.

I just put a capfull into the tank of the mower and noticed an almost immediate result. The engine is running smoother and not changing in pitch constantly! The smooth running lasted the whole mowing of the yard as well, not just an immediate temporary affect. I poured the rest of my lawnmower gas into my cars fuel tank and will be getting some more and mixing the mechanic in a bottle into it. I'm expecting the results to stay, or even get better, but if they don't I'll come back and edit this review.

Also used this on my Toro trimmer to good affect.

I have a 1 year old lawn boy that started and stalled. Over and over. I tried rebuilding the air filter and carbeurator, but to no avail. With a half a bottle of this, left overnight in the tank, fixed it.

This stuff is batting 1000 right now for me.

Thanks,
Rob.

I followed the instructions precisely and my mower runs like it is supposed to now. It may have been that when the gas tank was drained it did have some contaminate in it, but I'm thinking it was a combination of both the cleaning of the fuel tank and the MIB.

I was looking for a carburetor rebuild kit for my weed-whacker when this product came up in a search. My weed-whacker did not idle well nor run on more than half throttle.

Very sceptically (but lazy) I ordered one small bottle from here and added a few drops in to the tiny tank. Following the directions going through the motions....

Long story short: The weed-whacker is running like new, idles perfectly and goes on full throttle!

I love this product!! Saved me A LOT of time, hassle, and money!!

I have a gas string trimmer which would not run at all.
I took it to the dealer who said it could not be repaired and would require a new carburetor which would be about $85.00. I saw the Mechanic in a bottle in a local big box store and took it home to try.
I mixed 2 ounces into one gallon of pre-mixed gas and oil which I have been using, emptied the tank on the trimmer and re-filled it with the gas with the additive in it.
The trimmer started up almost immediately ( 3 pulls) and ran perfectly, idled great and now starts on the first or second pull. This is the trimmer which the dealer said could not be fixed.
I also used it in a straight line edger which had started to run raggedly and had to be run on partial choke to keep it running. It started immediately and continues to run run perfectly. If I have to add 2 ounces to every gallon of gas and oil I use, it is definitely worth it.

Please NOTE that this particular is the older product and NOT the current product that is available for RETAIL SALE in actually cheaper than what I had paid for this product. The product is better MARKETED in this packaging but is NO LONGER AVAILABLE. This particular product in this packaging is five (5) years old. I have spoken to representative for the manufacturer and he stated he can not control what suppliers/distributors do - but I have more problems with AMAZON and/or GATZIES in their marketing practices with this transaction. The product is about $4.00 cheaper than what this product was priced and paid for. I hope - AMAZON and/or GATZIES resolve the sour taste they left in my mouth on this order/transaction; the BAIT & SWITCH tactic/perception is NOT APPRECIATED. A refund maybe issued - but I did suggest an alternative solution with less $$$ lost; as I am still awaiting a resolution. I also asked that AMAZON and/or GATZIES to update the image of the current product shipped/promoted.

I will be ordering/purchasing this product as a main staple for the maintenance for my gas-powered lawn equipment. Recommendation application is ONE OUNCE of MECHANIC IN THE BOTTLE per FIVE GALLONS OF GASOLINE for routine operations of the equipment.

With that said - this has been a BUYER BEWARE EXPERIENCE.
