5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely little dish with chewy spoons
After reading many mixed reviews of this dish I'm glad I finally just went ahead and ordered it. It is such a nice design - handsome and clean lines with great colors, it makes my whole kitchen look and feel a little bit 'cutting edge' or 'modern' (I'm not kidding, even my husband thinks this set is "cool") and the spoons are my baby's favorite (he's 7 months old). 2.0 out of 5 stars No better than any other plate
I bought this hoping it would help my son use the spoon against the side and keep from picking up his plate (as advertised). Well, it really made no difference compared to the cheap plates and spoons we had purchased, and in fact my son did not like the width of these spoons (too difficult/wide to get into his mouth) so we stopped using them. The plate is more difficult...

My 2 and 3 year old toddlers like to use the spoons too!

I am writing to clear up a few misconceptions that other reviewers had mentioned; here's what I found: first of all, my set came with two spoons in different colors and one bowl. The bowl and the rim are separate pieces that snap together too firmly for baby to take apart, but might come apart if the bowl hits the floor like ours did (but it did not break and I can't imagine that it ever will). The rim is sort of rubbery and skid-resistant, the plastic bowl hangs suspended from the rim and the 'splayed' design of the rim allows for a lot of baby's reaching in and pushing food around and out without it tipping. This is not the case with 'normal'/traditional bowl-shaped baby dishes which tilt, rock, roll and then go spinning off the highchair tray. It's not tip-proof, it does not suction to the tray and your baby will eventually figure out how to pick it up. But, even after my little guy figured all that out, he still seems more interested in chasing his food around and then victoriously jamming it into his mouth with the sloping sides of the dish really helping him to get the job done. (He's still using his fingers at this point, the spoon is for me to help him right now).

You can wash this in a dishwasher (yay!) you can use it in a microwave too (yay!) but take care never to 'boil' the food, just zap very briefly to gently warm up cold mac-n-cheese, for example. (The lable warns not to exceed 194 degrees).

The spoons are wonderful; hard plastic with a rounded edge (that is gentle on baby's still toothless gums) to scoop the food while the handle is rubbery and easy for baby to hold and/or chomp on while those teeth work their way on out. We also splurged and got the matching adjustable bibs for all three kids. My experience with Baby Bjorn design thus far is definitely a 5 star rating!

4.0 out of 5 stars great, cute, but a little big, October 5, 2009

This bowl is cute and difficult for my daughter to lift and throw. However, if your high chair has a smaller tray, this bowl will not fit. For example, we have the Fisher-Price Healthy Care Deluxe Booster Seat - Blue, and the bowl does not fit on the tray - it is too large for the tray.

5.0 out of 5 stars Second child loves it too!, December 4, 2006

We had this for my son and 2 years later are passing it down to my daughter. She loves it just as much as he did. It does sit well on the tray and we have had great luck in keeping it there. The spoons are well designed so more goes into the mouth and less into the lap. The colors are great, it is dishwasher safe, and most importantly, my kids love it. The contoured sides make it easier for them to get the food on the spoon without pushing it out of the dish. I loved every Bjorn item we have and this is no exception.

THis plate is wonderful. It works as well as it claims, but I actually love the spoons the most. They are the perfect fit for small hands. My four year old still loves them and my 20 month old has been using them for some time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better Than I expected!, December 10, 2006

I was looking around for the best feeding dish when this bowl/spoon caught my eye. I read the reviews and purchased it. It was the best bowl/spoon I have ever sat in front of a kiddo! Too bad I didn't discover it until my fourth child! Like other good reviews, the shape is excellent for cornering food, the sides are not too high to be a challenge getting the food up and out of the bowl. The chunky spoon is perfect and the rubber rim is perfect at giving the grip needed to offset the pressure the scooping of food makes to the edge of the bowl. My little guy was an independent eater at 1 1/2 half, I should add the he has Down Syndrome and found eating with this bowl a breeze! I would suggest that the first time you give it to your child you stand behind the highchair and guide the childs hand to the bowl, scoop and bring to his mouth. I did this demonstration twice and he took right off!! He does throw the bowl when the food is gone, and it has never broken in almost a year of use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for baby's learning to use a spoon!, December 26, 2006

We just recieved this plate and spoon set for Christmas. The spoon and plate are perfectly shaped to pick up food that would normally slide up and out of the plate as the child tries to scoop it up with the spoon. The plate is also harder for our son to pick up and dump. It is sturdy and well made. The spoons have little indentations on the back of them so you can sit the spoon on the side of the plate without it falling in! This is a great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will be buying more - fantastic spoon/bowl set!, October 6, 2007

This set it so nice! While it's difficult to imagine by just looking at the pictures, the way the bowl is molded it's very easy to scoop little baby mouthfuls out, keep everything in a nice pile and not make a mushy mess of everything. I'm not spending time scraping food into piles I can scoop with the spoon - the design keeps everything all scraped on it's own. Again, hard to describe, but EONS ahead traditional bowl/spoon sets.

The spoons themselves (I received 2 spoons with one bowl) are so nice - they have a bit of a curve that's perfect for holding the food and listing up into baby's mouth. They are my favorite baby spoons as well.

Ours has stood up to being dropped on hardwood floors, dishwashing and microwaving with no problems.

This won't stay on the table by itself if your baby knows how to (or accidently) slides it across the table. Most babies won't be able to pick it up though, because of the way it's molded. Our little one is 10 months and we don't give him this bowl as he will slide it right off the table. I saw so many mixed reviews on the suction bowls I originally bought this, and wile it won't stay put on it's own, it doesn't claim to. I'm happy with the purchase.

We will be buying a few more, as I'm always bummed when it's time to feed baby and my favorite bowl/spoons are already in the dishwasher!

We ordered these bowl/spoon combos because when I went to the store to buy some for my baby, everything was made in China! Call me paranoid, but with all the lead found in their toys/toothpaste/dog food/etc., I'm not taking a chance on something that's going in my baby's mouth every day. So I found these sets that are made in Sweden. Right now I guess I'm not using it the way it's made for, because I feed my 5 month old daughter myself, so she's not learning how to use it on her own yet (she tries though). But it still gets the job done, and the spoons fit her mouth really well. It's quite pricey, but that isn't an issue for us when it comes to quality.
