With this carrier, you are able to run errands or meet friends while carrying your baby in a safe, comfortable fashion. The carrier's wide, padded shoulder straps distribute a baby's weight evenly over your back and shoulders, so you both enjoy maximum comfort.

Made of Safe, Comfortable, Non-toxic Materials
All fabrics and materials used in BABYBJÖRN Baby Carriers that come into contact with baby's skin are Öeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 certified, an international safety standard for textiles, and contain no health-hazardous substances. This means that during your baby's teething phase, you can allow your baby to nibble or suck on the fabric without worry.

The 100% cotton fabric feels soft to your baby's cheeks, won't irritate sensitive skin, and is machine washable.

Provides Pediatrician-recommended Posture Support
The innovative design of the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier allows you to safely carry your newborn facing towards you--then, once your baby has grown older and stronger, he, or she, can be carried facing outwards, so they can view their surroundings.

In both cases, the carrier's firm, adjustable head support allows babies to remain safe and secure in the carrier. Plus, the shape of the carrier positions your baby's legs in a spread-out, ergonomically-correct crouching posture that is recommended by pediatricians.

Adjustable to Growing Baby
The carrier's sliding buckle allows you to accommodate your baby as he or she grows in size. The minimum size requirement for use is 8 pounds and 21 inches and the maximum weight limit is 25 pounds. For your additional comfort and safety, the back and shoulder straps can be easily adjusted from the front to custom fit your body.

Innovative Two-Piece Design for Ease of Use
The unique two-piece design makes it simple for you to place your baby in the carrier unassisted. And if your baby falls asleep in the carrier, the two-piece design allows you to remove the front to lay the baby down without waking him or her up. You can also unhook one side for discreet nursing in the carrier. The strong, well-designed latches click securely and release easily with one hand.

Baby Bjorn Baby Carrier Original Spirit - Blue Moon

Our baby carriers have been around for 35 years, and this year we are celebrating them with a brand new, richly colored collection in eight personal colors. All of these new baby carriers have a single-color front and black shoulder straps.
With a BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier you can hold your baby close while keeping your hands free for other things. And it’s perfect for use both indoors and out.
Thanks to its well-conceived design, the baby carrier is ergonomically correct for the child as well as comfortable and easy to use for the person carrying baby. When the child is older and his/her neck stronger, the head support can be folded down so that the child can be carried facing forward and have a look around.
Here’s what medical experts say about our baby carriers.
From newborn (at least 3.5 kg/8 lbs and 53 cm/21 ins) up to 11 kgs/25 lbs

Over the course of three children we have had FIVE carriers: Two slings, a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and the Ergo Baby.

The Bjorn is definitely the best looking and easiest to use. The clips and connectors are very intuitive and it's easy to get smaller infants into it.

My big complaint is that when the kids get larger (or if you wear it for more than 20 minutes at a time) it really starts to kill your back. This is because the design keeps all the weight on your shoulders. It's like wearing a backpack BACKWARDS!

The "Active" version has wider straps which provide additional support for a small improvement over the "Original," but it still puts all the weight on your shoulders, pulling them forward.

If you only plan to use this when grocery shopping and think you'll give it up when they're 6 months old, this might be for you. If you think you might want to go to the park and hang out, or use it even when the kid starts to crawl, then the Ergo Baby is probably more your speed.

p.s. this is coming from a guy who is 6', 180# and fit. My wife is smaller and far more critical of the ergonomics of this carrier.

Greatest product ever! My son lived in his Classic from 8 lbs until he was approximately 28 pounds (1 1/2 years old). We went on daily walks for 1-3 hours at a time. He could sleep in it & breastfeed in it. Having him close to me really strengthened our bond- rather than having him in a stroller. It was also really easy to use. I was devastated when he was too big for it. I tried to move over to the Ergo, but found it to be way more complicated to get on & off and also found it not to be comfortable. I also tried a wrap system, which was comfortable, but which took ages to get on & off, and which had tons of material that ended up being wrapped around you which was too hot. I really missed the simplicity of being able to whip my son in or out of the Bjorn in seconds. When I was pregnant with my 2nd child, my friend gave me a new Active Bjorn. I was really excited about the new Bjorn, but when I put my infant daughter in it, I was horrified at how uncomfortable it was. I also didn't like all the extra straps (confusing) and all the extra material (too hot). My Classic was faded quite drastically (I purchased it used) after so much use, so I wanted to get a new one for the new baby. I wanted a Classic (technically a downgrade from the Active) since they're WAY more comfy, and was delighted to find a Classic in pink! It is positively the best thing ever.

The reason the Classic is better than the Active is because you can adjust the diamond in the back of the Classic to alter where the weight is being carried. You cannot do this with the Active carrier- at least, not that I am aware of. Once the baby is in the Bjorn, you need to play with the straps and adjust the diamond to get the carrier in the right spot to be comfortable. When properly adjusted, it's fabulous.

My little one is a cuddler and starts howling the minute I put her down, which was cute at first, but after awhile the novelty wore off and getting things done around the house became impossible. I bought the Moby wrap after reading all of the reviews on it with high hopes of using it all of the time. While I have used it and my babe does like to be in it- it is such a pain in the butt to use for short instances or after car rides, when due to the sheer amount of fabric and complex wrapping makes it not worth the trouble- plus it is impossible to keep it off of the ground- which I feel is gross and unsanitary. It is a great solution to put on at home and then wear on walks, but I was looking for a more practical, easier to use option. I looked at every possible version of the Baby Bjorn and Ergo. I chose this option because my baby was too small to go into the new Bjorn comfort option and the I didn't like how the Ergo needed the infant insert, as well as it didn't offer the front facing option. Plus, the price was right and I loved the color options of the Bjorn Spirit- I chose the Pearl Gray- a nice neutral that will work for my daughter and if there is a son in my future. So, to make a long story longer- I bought the Spirit. It is super easy to put on and adjust and my little one seemed comfortable in it- she fell asleep in it the first time we had it on. My main issue with it- as is everyone else's- is the lack of back support. My baby is on the minimum of weight and height of being able to wear her in this carrier, and my back was already hurting!Read more ›

I had the baby born and I loved it until my baby reached a certain weight. The thing is this... It says it can carry up to 25lbs, and it's true, it can hold up to 25lbs. However the key question is can YOU carry a 25lbs baby? My baby was born big and grew big, but I'm only 5'3". When the baby started to reach 12lbs, it really started to kill my back. The weight hangs mostly from your shoulders and the place that hurts most is the middle of your back. My baby was almost 12lbs at 3months, so from then on I began using it less and less. One day I came by lille baby carrier, and I wished I had known about it sooner. It comfortable for both baby and mother and is very versatile and worth the price, but it's not as pretty and one thing that was nice about the bjorn was that if you had a sleeping newborn, you could unhook and lay the baby down without waking the baby. At 0-2 months that is a very helpful quality since, it's hard to soothe such young babies.

So please think about the reality that if you buy this, you will most likely use it for few months. If carrying a baby is very important to your lifestyle such as myself(urban lifestyle) and need to carry a baby until they can stand on their own while you get a stroller packed and unpacked then you should really consider a ergo or lille and safe yourself some money and back pain.

I ignored reviews that complained about this aspect of baby bjorns -- the fact that you can only wear it up to few months. I really shouldn't have. Now it makes sense. The maximum weight you can carry would be proportionate to the ratio of wearer and child. So a 12lb baby is too much for me to wear but not so for my husband. So yeah, they can write on the product that you can carry upto 25lbs, but it's misleading.
