Best thing I ever invested in.

At this rate the water would drain out of a bucket within a day and I'd have to refill it daily anyway.

I bought theses to streamline my chicken coop chores. Simply put, they didn't work. They leak from within the metal hardware, not the join. The chickens were eager and willing to drink from them though. I fiddled with installing these for a good hour or two only to realize they won't stop leaking. At this rate the water would drain out of a bucket within a day and I'd have to refill it daily anyway. I guess it's back to hose and bucket and dumping it out every day.

The chickens waste less water. I can fill a bucket and it lasts 4 days. It took them awhile to figure it out, but chickens are smart, contrary to popular opinion.

We just bought 5 chickens. Who knew they went through so much water! Using a 5 gallon "Bottled Water" water cooler jug, we suspended it in the chicken run and (with a bit of plumber's tape), inserted the nipples. Honestly, I did not think it would work. I was SO WRONG! And they work great. The water stays clean and the chickens have plenty of it!

not having to clean out the water dish on a daily basis is a godsend. i just drilled a couple holes in a 5 gallon bucket, put a little plumbing tape and caulk (i had to use caulk because if you dont get the holes just right, water seeps easily around your holes) to put them in.

A couple things i dont like is how easily they freeze. i know its inevididle because of how narrow the nipple is. I had to buy a bird bath deicer, which works well and is maintenance free. the other thing is that after a few months of pecking from the chickens, the bar gets off kilter and doesnt seal properly and is sort of a loose fit, which also added to my freezing problem. there would always be drips coming out. I have my watering system outside the coop so it is not an issue, if it was inside i think i would always have a wet mess. i live in the pacific northwest so the weather is for the most part mild, bird bath deicer is a must.

It only took my chickens about two hours to figure it out. So much cleaner than our old traditional waterer.

i like this system better than the water pooling on the ground and getting dirty. they work well just if you cant work out a heating system for them in the winter they will freeze over and youre chickens wont be getting any water. the fault might have and probably my own so i gave the product a 4
