5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, an answer to that drawer in your kitchen that is stuffed with bags you refuse to throw out...
There is something just so gross and wrong about throwing away those plastic grocery bags you get at the market, so at our house, we throw them in a drawer in the kitchen thinking we will somehow magically re-purpose them.... but how??? Weave them together and make doormats from them? If only we were so crafty.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great
These bags are ok.....lots of hype made me order them. But...for the price, they are not all that fantastic. Bottom is not a 'gusset', and does not open wide. Each bag does not hold '3 times' more than regular grocery bags. Also...the color I received was not the color I ordered. After all that, the convenience of the small size when folded is nice, but the price is...

This is finally the answer. I bought 3 in fuschia (why be basic, right?) and now I just keep one or two in my handbag at all times so that I can say no to the plastic at the store and just tote everything home in my own weightless little bag. They are also great for everything else, like hauling misc things to and from the car, throwing wet towels/bathing suits in after a trip to the gym or spa, etc etc.

The ripstop nylon is incredibly sturdy (more so than the flimsy plastic bags you get at the store) and carries as much weight or more as you could normally carry in said flimsy plastic bag.

If you're looking for a cool environmentally-friendly bag that's a little less granola and a little more hip, here you go.

Great little gifts for Christmas. Stock up and give out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that great, April 21, 2008

I decided to start using reusable bags when I'm out and about to cut down on the plastic bag full of plastic bags that has been growing in my kitchen pantry. So, I bought some reusable bags from the grocery store for 99 cents a piece. Lo and behold, I can never remember to bring them into the store with me, and so my plastic bag full of plastic bags continued to grow.

I browsed Amazon and found Baggu where it was described as being bigger than a regular plastic bag and a lot more convenient because it folds into a pouch. I decided to get the three pack in fuschia, even though I knew it wouldn't be enough, because I wanted to test them before I bought the full 6 pack.

I'm somewhat disappointed. I don't know how big other places' plastic bags are, but the Baggu is not bigger or even the same size as the regular plastic bags the stores have. It does not have much of a gusset type bottom and I find that my things get scrunched easily in it, same as plastic but not better.

Furthermore, I drive to and from the store and by the time I arrive home, the bag has released the captive groceries all over the trunk of my car. Okay, so I should have tied it. But, that would require less groceries to fit in an already small bag. Argh!!

Moving on, I liked that it was compact and could fold into a pouch, except that the pouch is a separate entity so the chances of losing it is high, exactly what I managed to do. I, personally, think they should have the pouch attached to the bag to eliminate the opportunity of it finding a new home on the asphalt of the grocery store parking lot.

In conclusion, the Baggu is not worth the price, if I were to judge its convenience or size. It is strong, since I managed to carry tons of library books in it at one time. The color is beautiful, but the bag does not fulfill my needs. Pass...

5.0 out of 5 stars Keep a New Year's resolution, January 7, 2008
Ordered these after a prompt from Amazon - they looked like just the thing to help me keep a New Year's resolution to use fewer bags. These bags are better than the canvas types sold in grocery stores - they hold more, they're lightweight, yet sturdy and they easliy refold into their little pockets. I keep mine in my glove box and usually have one in my purse. The ladies who developed this product should market them to grocery stores because they're a lot better than the ones I've seen available. Thank you.Baggu Reusable Shopping Tote - 6-Pack

2.0 out of 5 stars citymom, March 3, 2008

Seen all kinds of press for this product, dissapointed when i got it. Way smaller than i thought and since i live in the city I wanted something I could carry over the shoulder and be able to hold my kids hand at the same time, the handles are not long enough to do so. On the plus side made well and liked color but gave mine to my single sister who has less requirements. Still looking for the perfect bags.

4.0 out of 5 stars So useful, especially when you're forgetful!, March 30, 2008

This review is from: BAGGU Reusable Shopping Tote - 3-Pack (Apparel)
We have those poly-cotton bags that Whole Foods sells. I think we have five of them. And then a few months ago we got some from Fred Meyer when they were having a promotion (spend $50, get a free poly-cotton reusable bag). And I can NEVER remember to keep them with me! So, we have not been able to cut down on our grocery bag consumption. However, with the little Baggus, I can either keep them in my (admittedly gigantic) purse or in the tray of the car, and just grab them as we go into the store. Sturdy bags.

The only thing I wish is that the pouch was somehow integrated into the bag. Lands' End, for example, makes jackets that can fold up into one of their own pockets. Surely the Baggu could be redesigned so you don't have to worry about losing the little pouch when the bag is in use.

Edited to say that I emailed the Baggu people with the suggestion of integrating the pouch into the bag. Their response? Stuffing bags into attached pouches wrinkles them, and they wanted people to be able to fold them to avoid wrinkling. HUH? Come on, this is a utility bag, not a fashion statement. Is that a serious concern to users? Not to me. And their second statement was equally strange: they did not want people to be able to see through the thin ripstop fabric to the attached pouch. Again, I fail to see how this could be a show stopper. But, they're in charge, so I don't suppose we'll see any attached pouches anytime soon.

They suggested keeping keys or change in the pouch when it's not in use. I can't see keys or change staying put inside one of these pouches, which has no real closure except a sandwich-bag type of flip top.

Oh well. I'm still glad I have them, and I DO STUFF THEM INTO THE POUCHES!!

Edited again to say we already lost one of the pouches. I'm trying to figure out a way to sew them together accurately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best solution for leaving plastic and paper behind, January 4, 2008
By
alicedaer (Tempe, Arizona, USA) - See all my reviews
I saw these bags on a tech blog and immediately bought 4 of them. I've recommended them to friends and all of us think they're great. The fabric is perfect, they're incredibly lightweight, and they come in their own little envelopes for tossing back in the car when you're done unloading groceries.

I try to reuse paper bags as much as I can. Barring that, I'll buy a store's fabric or plastic bag to reuse next time I'm there. But because those bags are used only for groceries, I tend to forget them or they get wet and need to be tossed. Baggus are so easy to keep in my car or my backpack or my purse that I never forget them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, functional and chic!, November 3, 2007
I just recieved my three pack of Baggu's in the mail yesterday and used the bag today at the farmers market. Instead of having a million plastic bags to feel guilty about when I got home, I had one bright turquoise Baggu that I love and can use again and again! And they are so light weight and compact that one bag takes up minimal room in the purse which is vital. I'm going to give them to everyone I know for Christmas.

3.0 out of 5 stars Portable but too expensive, February 29, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These bags are great to stick in your purse but they don't stand up well while the cashier is filling them and they are too pricey. Also if you have house pets the nylon material attracts hair like a magnet. I only use these for small orders and have bought inexpensive canvas bags purchased from the local store for my major grocery buying trips. The canvas bags stand up great and hold a lot of stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cool bag, needs slight improvement, January 21, 2010

The BAGGU bags are fairly popular due to being so easy to carry and their great design. When in use they act like slightly enlarged plastic bags that are much more durable and can carry a lot more weight. The only thing I would improve on this product is to make the storage pocket part of the bag so the bag folds into itself. Currently the pouch pictured on the right of the bag is a separate piece and is easly misplaced when using your BAGGU.
