i got this game along with 9 others for the ps3 after selling my xbox 360. after playing it for about 1 hour the first night i was like this sucks its going back to gamestop. after about 15 races i couldnt come in 1st and i bought all the upgrades for my little vw bug. so why the good score you ask ? well let me tell you- i woke up the next day and played kane and lynch and i finnished it but i had and hour before work so i put baja back in i was like ill give it another go so i started by buying a new vw unlimited and let me tell you the difference was surreal. 1st in every race on to the next class again 1st in every race whoo-hoo im starting to like it. i unhooked my ps3 and brought it to work and played baja for over 8 hours straight. it is a good game great no but good. the graphics are subpar the environments are good but background stuff like hotels and rollercoasters are bad also the cars arents so hot. the music is good and it really is like real baja the slightest bump can ruin your race and your ride. while baja is far from perfect if there is a baja 2 it will be great. this is the yang to motorstorms yin.it is more realistic play it to see what i mean.

It is different racing from anything you ever played before,

Circuit course races are my favorite with the huge dirt banks to get up on taking turns and winding courses with some jumps but mostly bumps, plus lots of track variations and even a free roaming option to just get out and tear up the scenery that the baja, circuit, rally and hill climb events are all laid out on in one large area, like in parts of Mexico or Utah. Graphics are HD but still sort of come off at times like a very high quality ps2 feel to it, which is not as bad as it may sound, the graphics are very well executed and when you get down to racing they are just fine at blending in and the damage modeling is really cool. Dirt accumulates on your vehicle, which at the end of a long race may be just a dirty roll cage on wheels with smoke coming from the radiator and wheels wobbling. The body panels get knocked off or some are dragging off and bouncing on your vehicle. It's a high speed game with lots of vehicles, collisions and different classes, 160 vehicles with numerous variety with in each class and all very well done. Plus you can tune them with better parts or paint jobs in career mode. Easy menu navigation, tons of options and content galore.
Get the game, get the cheat codes, and hope for a sequel. If the graphics and driving physics where a little better it would be an A game. Driving physics are arcade and at speed you are on the edge of control, which is a good thing, but is to say there is not another game quit like this one. It is different racing from anything you ever played before, which again is good in both ways. If Dirt 2 had these circuit course tracks it would be amazing, and if Baja had a more realistic vehicle feel it would be that much more of a great game. The game scores 100 for sim accuracy cause if you ever watch a dirt truck race and see how far and how much the wheels bounce, this game nailed that part of dirt racing perfectly. Baja: Edge of Control was a perfect name and I want to say this is a perfect game, but I may mislead some who wouldn't appreciate the racing mechanics involved and expect a typical feel race game, which it is and is not. The track design is amazing.

I bought this game a few days ago and the first day I tried it I was very disappointed. I felt like I wasted my money. The graphics are nowhere near what a PS3 can deal out. It reminds me of PS2 graphics. There is also no ingame music while racing. You do get all the sound effects though from your vehicle as well as the competition. Well I decided to give it another go last night. I raced and raced and was having a hard time winning even with all the upgrades to my buggy. Then I switched to a different buggy and with no upgrades I started winning the races easily. I also started getting used to the graphics even though I am still disppointed with them. But the handling of the vehicles is awesome and the physics of the game! The way your vehicle reacts to the environment is really cool with all the bumps and jumps and slides. The races are nice and long too. Some will last up to 3 hours...in stages I believe. I recommend this game when the price drops though due to the graphics. At the current price with PS2 graphics, I can't recommend it.
