I bought one of these about a year ago for $99 on sale and have had it on a few small caliber rifles although it has now found a long term home on my Ruger 10/22. You can read the specs for yourself, it has everything that was advertised. I bought it primarily to sit on a 22LR and to put holes in paper at 50 and 100yds during the daytime. I need a bit more scope than most people. It is excellent at that and I highly recommend it. While it seems perfectly serviceable at twilight, of course it doesn't have the brightness or clarity of a $2000 scope then but it looks good in daylight and that's all that I need. I've also only shot it on 22 caliber rifles so I don't know how shockproof it is, but it has been fine for my use and very stable. It also hasn't fogged even when going from AC to 95 deg. & 90% humidity. It seems to be well made and all of the adjustments work well. The only strange thing is that it has "1/8" marked on the adjustment knobs while each click is actually 1/4 MOA - maybe it's inherently set up for 50 yds? One other note if you haven't used a high power scope, put good rings on it, it will make a big difference. Here is a photo of it on my Ruger ([...]) although I've now upgraded the rings.

Take home message, it's a great deal for the money if your needs are similar to mine.

Those of you that cannot get a focus in X40 within a 100 yards, you do not know how to operate a scope! Do not feel bad because there are many that think they know but dont. If you have a eye piece and objective lens focus you can focus any distance in clear. Barska is dissed because it is made in China, but the glass is what counts, Barska has great glass. This is why a lifetime warranty is given, it is that good. German glass is suppose to be the best BUT they are slacking. I zeroed in at a lugnut at 100 yds at X40 and it was cystal clear. I built scopes for a living and I know what I am talking about, I am now retired as I sold my business to a well known hi dollar scope company. If you are having problems give Barska a call and give them a chance and you will see what you were doing wrong.

This scope has some bad reviews and I can understand where they are coming from. This is my second scope as the first on was a dud. At first impressions this scope is big but without a doubt gets the picture you want. It zooms from 25 yards to 300 yards to infinite with 10 power up to 40 power you can see where you want. It has a nice matte finish and comes with a yellow lens filter for those just incase moments. It has height and windage adjustments but are only to be used to set the zero on the scope as this scope came from the factory way off. When I laser bore sighted this scope it off WAY bottom right. I was soo far to the right I had to turn the windage all the way out to get it to center. The height was not as bad as the windage. The turrets could of been bigger and had an adjustment to re-zero the turrets after all adjustments. Over all this is a good scope for the price and I would consider buying another.

I got this scope for my Remington .300 Win Mag. Let me tell you, this is a great scope for $100.00. I was also able to contact Barska and they shipped my a 3" sunshade for $15.00 including shipping. Great tool that really reaches out there. One would think that because is was so cheap that you got a cheap product. Not the case. Even at full 40x focus, the site picture is clear. No this is not a $1500 scope, but i would put it up against most $400-$500 scopes any day.

I was looking for a good (not great) optic for some longer range shooting with my AR15. I took a chance with this scope primarily because it seemed to be such GREAT value for the money. Is it as good as a $1000 scope - no. But for my level of shooting with my AR15 this scope far exceeds what I really 'need' from a scope.
Scope seems to hold zero very well - glass is good - able to focus well even on the really high magnifications oncce you now how to adjust it. So far only used it out to 200 yards with the AR15 - but even then with the magnification turned up I can clearly see the holes in the paper with a 5.56 round.
So if you are looking for a 'good' scope with the ability to reach out a little farther (higher magnification) but don't want to spend more on the scope than you did on the rifle, I would say this is an excellent choice!

Slightly hazy at 40 power, but hey, it doesn't cost fifteen hundred dollars. It's well worth the price, if you need a hi-power scope, but would also like to send your kids to college.

Overall a great scope for the money. Not a Leopold, but I'm not hunting for a living either. Up to 40X zoom is great for distance and is crystal clear even when viewing targets at 25 yds. For those that are rating low because of "blurriness", then adjust your front objective for proper target distance to get the right focus! The 50 mm objective is great for low light practice. No complaints about quality at this point (~250 shots). The glass, casing, adjustable components are all in great shape.

I've got this scope mounted on my Rem 700 SPS Varmint in .223 cal using AccuShot Premium 1-Inch Weaver Style See-Thru High-Pro Rings (recommend high profile for bolt action play). It adjusts/clicks fairly true, and took maybe 10 shots to sight this thing it at 100 yds. I put another 100 shots through and still maintained accuracy. Pretty sure it comes from the factory near mechanical zero, so if you're having problems with cranking your MOA adjustments too far in one direction, then better check your mounts/rail before you damage your scope. Use "pop can" washers to bring rail up/down if elevation is your problem. Be sure to set the scope up for proper eye relief to easily find a clear image, especially if you plan to always use with high (>20X) magnification. My shooting buddy has one in target dot reticle and that is nice as well for small game and target practice.

I'll definitely buy another Barska scope to mount on my 10/22. Unless you can justify spending a lot of $$$ on a scope, get a Barska.

This scope has worked excellent on my Remington 700 7mm Varmint rifle for the past month. It is very easy to sight in and is amazingly clear and accurate. Unfortunately something has gone wrong with the cross hairs, they are now canted. The tint has also come off of the lenses as well. Of course this happen after the return window closed so I will have to return it to Barska to either be exchanged or fixed for a price.

I have mounted over 8 of these scopes on heavy barrel bolt action Savage and AR 15 Rock River 5.56 Varmint and LAR 308 rifles. I shoot at paper targets only with these scopes. My targets are 12 quarter size black dots on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of white paper. I use them at maximum magnification at 100 to 200 yards. The optics are a little hazy and not as clear as the Tasco 10x40 scope. I like them because I do not need to use a spotting scope to see the bullet holes in the dots or any holes in the paper. I have 20/20 vision but I do need reading glasses.. I have no problem seeing the dots at 200 yards or the holes in the dots at 100 yards. I haven't had a scope failure of any kind. The heaviest caliber rifle I have these scope mounted on is the .308 Winchester. I use the Barska 8x32x42mm scopes on most of my other rifles. The optics are similar in that you need ample light for best clarity and there is still always a slight reticle haziness at maximum magnification. For the money these are the best target scopes I have found or used. I am slowly replacing all my 8x32x42 scopes with these scopes. The extra 8 points of magnification make it easier to center the crosshair on such a small dot. I am a re-loader and I have found that making your own ammunition produces much more accurate ammunition than you can buy. You can buy better brass and better prepare it as well as find the best powder and bullet for a specific caliber, Adjusting the overall length of the bullet for a bolt action rifle so it is .005 to .010 of inch from the lands and grooves of the rifle dramatically improves accuracy. Very good scope for the money.

Very impressed for the price that I paid for the scope. Sure, there are more expensive scopes out there but for a 500 yard shot, this sight impressed me. Got a spotting scope for same manufacturer and wouldn't give the same rating.
